The San Diego Padres have signed shortstop Khalil
Greene for 2 years, $11 million.
What should the Padres do with Khalil Greene
if they can't sign him to a long-term deal?
The San Diego Padres have announced the finalization
of a 51.9 million dollar deal with Cy Young
winner Jake Peavy that will keep him in a Padre uniform through a minimum of 2012, with a club option for 2013. The extension to the 27 year old pitcher is financially the biggest in team history, a sharp rebuttal to critics of the team who have decried the team’s fiscally conservative approach.
From Padres GM Kevin Towers: "A long-term contract
with Khalil at this time is probably doubtful."

Padres feared, shortstop Khalil Greene fractured his left hand
on Wednesday night when he slammed a storage chest at Petco Park in frustration over his season-long slump. Greene's return for this season is ...

When a team doesn't hit, they look flat.
Plain and simple. The natural gut reaction? We need
to get more athletic, we need more speed, we need to create runs. There are a lot of fans who have already expressed these feelings, and I empathize with ...

I can't help but think this could very
well be Khalil Greene's last season with the Padres.
Here's why. The Padres and Greene's representation failed to reach a long-term contract for the shortstop. The hesitancy here is one-sided here, and it's ...
It's a valid question... that I don't have
the answer to.
PHOENIX When the Padres travel, they get to
add a slugger to their lineup. Fellow named Khalil

This year, as in years past, I haven't
been allowed to say anything negative about the San
Diego Padres until the All-Star break. Originally, the rule was created because the team was really, really terrible and there was no reason for me to pile on, though I did, often and at length. But even when the team was mediocre or even good, there were always players that drew my ire.
Khalil Greene's big 2007 season with the San
Diego Padres is about to pay off with a
nice contract that will allow the shortstop to avoid arbitration.
This is not a good study (if you
will even call it that). I debated whether or
not to even post it, but I decided that since most of my stuff is crap anyway, I may as well go ahead. Anyway, the theory goes something like this: The large outfield in ...
It appears as if catcher Josh Bard has

I tried. Honest, I did. I tried to
like him. I advocated signing him last year. He
was the best option at the time. Now it could be argued he’s the worst shortstop in the major leagues. Last week, I asked my friend for ideas for topics on the ...
