Despite an apparent lack of movement in trade
talks for Johan Santana, the Mets still are very
much in pursuit of the Twins' lefty, according sources. As a result, they are not likely to sign Livan Hernandez or any other pitcher.

With each passing start you have to wonder
how close Francisco Liriano is to returning to the
Twin’s rotation. Especially with Nick Blackburn possibly headed to the DL and both Livan Hernandez and Glen Perkins struggling. Liriano finished another positive week pitching 13.1 innings striking out 12, walking one and allowing just three earned runs.

A sweet sweep for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Another
cry of `Wait Til Next Year' from the crestfallen
Chicago Cubs. Chris Young homered on the game's first pitch, Livan Hernandez wriggled out of several serious jams and Arizona beat the Cubs 5-1 Saturday night to complete a three-game sweep of their first-round playoff series.

The Cubano Caballo looked like he was going
to struggle early but then handled the Tigers quite
handily and besides, the wheels on the Carlos Counter were a'spinnin' and the Twins are a half game out of first. Did I mention my man crush on Livan? Just read the article.

Livan Hernandez's pitching prowess is simply continuing a
long legacy of great Cuban athletes that have suited
up for the Twins over the years. Oliva, Pascual, Versalles and even Luis Tiant have contributed to the saga and in the spirit of Memorial Day it is time to reflect and remember what Cuban baseball has meant to beisbol in the state of Minnesota.
