Minnesota Twins win but lose veteran Cuddyer with broken foot

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The long-awaited late-season lineup boost isn't coming, not with Michael Cuddyer's broken foot in a boot. So add another sliver of pressure to the Twins' young pitching staff, the key to Minnesota's chances of staying in the American League Central race. But if Friday night's game is any clue, maybe the pressure won't be a problem. The Twins used six pitchers against Kansas ...

River Ave. Blues found this 11 days ago on www.twincities.com [link]

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals, Michael Cuddyer

Fantasy Baseball Breaking News

Twins signed outfielder Bobby Kielty to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Rochester. Kielty debuted with the Twins in 2001 and hit .269/.375/.444 in 224 games before being traded to the Blue Jays for Shannon Stewart. Since then he's shown himself to be overmatched as anything more than a platoon player, but with Michael Cuddyer's status uncertain the Twins may be able to use ...

Projo Sox Blog found this 8 days ago on www.rotoworld.com [link]

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Minnesota Twins, Bobby Kielty, Toronto Blue Jays, Shannon Stewart, Michael Cuddyer

Not That Worried About Cuddyer’s Injury

Going into the season, PECOTA projected Cuddyer to be about 12-13 runs above replacement level over the course of the entire season. From 2003-2007, UZR had Cuddyer at -9 runs/150G in right field, and it seems highly unlikely that he's getting any better in the field.
Cuddyer had a very nice 2006 and [...]

AaronGleeman.com found this 9 days ago on stickandballguy.com [link]

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Minnesota Twins, Michael Cuddyer

    via www.laboratorium.dist.unige.it
Michael Cuddyer's second metatarsal was broken last night in a rehab game with the Rochester Red Wings. It was his fourth game since coming off of the disabled list, and he was scheduled to return to the Twins on Monday for the series opener versus the Yankees in Minneapolis.

His teammates Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer get all the attention (well, as much attention as the Twins get anyway), while he puts up solid numbers every season and gets no real fanfare. Plus, besides his bat, the guy is pretty good out there in the field and he has a cannon for an arm. It's got to be ...

Foul Balls found this 11 days ago on mlb.fanhouse.com [link]

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Michael Cuddyer, Joe Mauer, Alexi Casilla, Justin Morneau
