Breaking News: Lowell To The DL
Breaking News: Lowell To The DL
The Boston Red Sox announced this afternoon that they have placed Mike Lowell on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. To replace Lowell on the 25-man roster, they have recalled David Pauley from Pawtucket. No word on how Pauley will be used by the Red Sox but I’d guess that he will make the start on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Boston Red Sox News & Notes - 8/11
Boston Red Sox News & Notes - 8/11
Things started out good yesterday for the Boston Red Sox. Mike Lowell hits a 3-run home run in the top half of the 1st and Clay Buchholz shuts down the Chicago White Sox in the bottom half. Then slowly but surely things started to fall apart as Buchholz would give up 3 home runs over the course of the next two innings as all of the sudden the 3-0 lead he had, went to a 5-3 deficit.

Boston Red Sox News & Notes - 8/9
Boston Red Sox News & Notes - 8/9
It was a tough night last night for the Boston Red Sox as hits were at a premium for them as they were shutdown by Mark Buehrle for 7 innings. Buehrle had been struggling in 2008 but last night he looked like the second coming of Cy Young. He kept the Red Sox hitters off balance mixing in all of his pitches giving up just 4 hits. Personally, I didn’t think Lester had his best stuff ...

With one ‘click’ the Sox could be back in 1958
If the "click" David Ortiz reportedly heard in his wrist last night turns into something serious, the Red Sox could easily be featuring this lineup: Jason Varitek, Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, Jed Lowrie, Mike Lowell, Jason Bay, Jacoby Ellsbury, J.D. Drew, Sean Casey. Can you say milquetoast?
