As the Pirates are getting shelled again and
wrapping up a record tying 16 th consecutive losing
season, I'm forced once again into the glorious past. Nate McLouth has started off this season with an 18-game hitting streak, longest since Al Oliver did the same in 1972. I'm irrational about the Pirates in general, but Al Oliver is a bigger weakness than most for me.

The Pittsburgh Pirates Roundtable has returned. After nearly
a year’s hiatus, some of the best Pirate minds

In case you missed it (and you might
have because it lingered a bit, just a bit),
Tuesday night's All-Star Game was an instant classic. It had everything. Great pitching, some ridiculous plays by the likes of Miguel Tejada and Nate McLouth and a walk-off sac fly play at the plate. Amidst all the awesomeness, was one Dan Uggla.

with Gavin Floyd's pitching performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates
yesterday: those who own him in fantasy baseball leagues. That's because he was only charged with giving up one run in his start yesterday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, despite really giving up seven runs.

The new management team in Pittsburgh rates Nate
McLouth higher than the previous regime. Some of the
stats cited in the article are a little too specialized to mean anything real, but they do show McLouth is a patient hitter.
