Bob Raissman has quotes from Fred Wilpon where
he admits to screwing up the Willie Randolph firing.
From Raissman: Fred Wilpon said he learned something from firing Willie Randolph. And it is this: The next time he fires a manager he'll do it in the light of day, when reporters are not sleeping. --- "I said (to Omar Minaya) 'When are you going to do this?' He said 'After the game (Me
Are these New York Mets for real? They
reeled off 10 straight wins in the month of
July, which began on July 5th and did not end until July 18th. In fact, the Mets are 19-2 since Willie Randolph ...
There are two sides to every coin. On
one hand, I leave Johan Santana out there for
the 9th inning to work his magic. That's why he's getting the big bucks. On the flip-side, I can see why you don't want to run your "ace" out there and run up his pitch count, especially with Pedro Martinez ailing. But, your closer is unavailable, and no one has really shone through as a viable replacement. ...

The Mets oft-injured starter’s session included 30-plus pitches. He walked away without any pain. Martinez had a cortisone shot for a strained groin last Thursday in New York.
Updates on Cleveland Indians players including Josh Barfield
and Victor Martinez who are a few weeks away
from returning, Travis Hafner and Fausto Carmona who will make one more rehab start.
It seems like Pedro is breaking down already.
That may not be the case, but that is
the perception that the Mets front office creates when they fail to give an accurate assessment of a player's status from the get-go.
Mets top prospect Fernando Martinez singled in his

The New York Mets are having second thoughts
about letting right-hander Pedro Martinez face the Philadelphia Phillies
next week.
Oft-injured Pedro Martinez is up to his old
tricks again, forcing the New York Mets to make
changes to their upcoming rotation. The 36-year old pitcher received a cortisone injection in his right hip to help with the pain in his groin. The good news is his shoulder pain wasn’t anything to worry about. The soreness was from altering his pitching motion due to the groin.
Pedro Martinez received a cortisone injection in his
right hip in New York Thursday, hoping to address
the groin discomfort that forced him from his final first-half start against the Rockies after four innings.
CINCINNATI - All of that good mojo the
