Best Pitching Acquisition

24 years ago, the Chicago Cubs acquired Rick Sutcliffe from the Indians during the summer to bolster their rotation - he made 20 starts, went 16-1, and won the N.L. Cy Young award. It’s generally considered the best midseason pitching acquisition in baseball history, but with CC Sabathia throwing another complete game last night for Milwaukee, it’s an issue worth revisiting.

Carl Pavano To Start For Yanks On Saturday?

Hey, it’s possible .
If true, that would be 501 days between Yankees starts for big Carl…as he last pitched for New York on April 9, 2007 .
For the record, in his four years as a member of the New York Yankees, Pavano has made nineteen starts and faced 488 batters - recording 111.3 IP and an ERA of 4.77.
Surprising, only seven pitchers have made more starts for the Yankees ...

NJ.com: Pride of the Yankees found this 2 days ago on waswatching.com [link]

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, New York Yankees, Carl Pavano, Mike Mussina, Chien-Ming Wang, Randy Johnson, Andy Pettitte

MLB: Assault On The Record Books

Last night Randy Johnson allowed just two runs over six innings to beat the Colorado Rockies and he struck out seven while giving up five hits and one walk. This gave the 44 year old 10 wins for the season, six shy of 300 career wins. If Johnson can hang on just a little bit longer he will hit a number that is becoming more and more difficult as teams are cutting back on the number of ...

jl3 posted 7 days ago from ballhype.com [link]

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Randy Johnson, New York Yankees, Mike Mussina, Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Delgado, Chipper Jones

Johnson thinking of 300 wins, future

Sitting at 294 victories with roughly nine starts remaining - not good odds for a man chasing the 300-win mark on a near-.500 team - it is no surprise that Randy Johnson does not sound like he is thinking about retiring. "Eventually, you have to retire and come out of retirement and then play again and then retire," Johnson said jokingly. "I haven't even retired yet and come out of retirement, ...

AZ Snakepit: Front Page Posts found this 5 days ago on www.azcentral.com [link]

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: MLB, Randy Johnson

In the bottom of the 3rd inning with nobody out and Carlos Ruiz on first (!!!!) trailing 1-0, Jamie Moyer stepped in the box to lay down a bunt and advance the runner.
