Cubs in First Place, Armageddon to Follow
Cubs in First Place, Armageddon to Follow
With their 5-4 victory over Philadelphia coupled with a Milwaukee loss to the Mets, the Chicago Cubs are now in first place in the National League Central Division.....and the world will never be the same. This isn't like if the Colorado Rockies took over first place in the NL West, things are going to get weird, and they are going to get weird really quickly. ...

This Is the Year (Like Every Other Year)
The Cubs peed all over themselves. Isn’t that really the heart of the matter? On the mound, in the field and most definitely at the plate, the Cubs look nothing like the team that won 97 games this year. The Sox are missing their MVP candidate. What’s the Cubs’ excuse?

Painting By Numbers
Hey, Bruce? Bruce Miles? It's me, Tom Gerndleman, your editor at the Daily Herald . Listen -- I don't have a lot of time. I need an article about Ryan Theriot, but I have Bulls tickets tonight, and I have to leave in eight minutes. Do me a favor, and ...

Is Piniella’s Decision on Fukudome a Mistake?
Cubs skipper Lou Piniella took a small step backwards on Saturday when he chose to adjust his lineup by moving Alfonso Soriano to the two hole and dropping Kosuke Fukudome to fifth in the order. Moving Soriano to second and dropping Fukudome to fifth decreases their potential scoring output. While the difference is negligible, it’s worth investigating nonetheless.

Player spotlight: Ryan Theriot
Tuesday, April 29, 2008 Player spotlight: Ryan Theriot Posted by Derek Carty at 11:11am I know Ryan Theriot is sort of a random guy to spotlight, but I realized Sunday while writing the National League Waiver Wire that there is a lot to be said about Theriot. Perhaps not great as a real-life baseball player, he is a pretty good fantasy player. The real reason I like Theriot, ...

Time to Put an End to 'The Riot'
Time to Put an End to 'The Riot'
Since I said Michael Barrett had to leave town and 'abracadabra', he's gone....it's time to move onto the next Cubs player who should 'hit the bricks'. Who says, 'hit the bricks' anymore? It's been written and I can't take it back. Anyways, the next Cubs player who should go (besides Jacque Jones, that would be too easy) is Ryan Theriot.

 Roto Chronicles: National League–July 21
Roto Chronicles: National League–July 21
Some of these names may not be household names, but they could give you some extra boost to your team. The second half of the season promises to be an exciting one with many close races around the league. As typical with any baseball season, the second half of the season seems to bring out success they didn’t see in the first half. Last season Matt Holliday dominated the second half ...

Ryan Theriot....I Was Wrong
As you know by now, from time to time I'll make a prediction or say that a certain player should be sent back to the minors....Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong. It seems that when I'm right I hear everyone say, "Oh, Cobra knows what he's talking about." or "Cobra is The Man!" or "Oh Cobra, you are hot!" (actually, only Bruce Paine says that).

Why, God, Why
...do articles like this continue to be written? Baseball is a contact sport with shortstop Ryan Theriot. The 28-year-old Cub, coming off his first full season in the majors, seldom strikes out (50 in 537 at-bats). That makes him an ideal No. 2 ...

To complement the DPLee-O-Meter. Derrek Lee has slowed down on the GDPs considerably since we introduced the DPLee-O-Meter, so we're hoping the TOOTBLAN-O-Meter will have the same impact on Ryan Theriot and his TOOTBLANs . For the record, we like ...

 Patterson Up, Pie Stays Down
Patterson Up, Pie Stays Down
The Cubs announced that 2b/OF Eric Patterson was be promoted from AAA Iowa today instead of fan favorite Felix Pie. Curious as to what this means??? Here you go, real quick like: - Soriano is going to be out at least 3 weeks. Last time he injured his leg they didn't call anyone up because of his ability to heal quickly. Since Soriano was placed on the DL he MUST stay out 15 ...
