Emotion Not Part of the Ramirez Dump

Emotion may have not been a role in the Manny Ramirez trade, but I think Shaun Payne is WAY off in his evaluation of the Manny, Jason Bay deal. Payne suggestion that the Sox got the better end of the deal is ludicrous. To me Bay is an above average player who has ZERO expereince in any big games. Sure Manny is getting up there in age but he is still one of the most feared players in the game.

Dejan says that there's no news to report and that none of Boras's clients have done anything yet, which is how Boras operates. Rocco DeMaro on 104.7 says a deal is done and he supposedly had the Grossman and Miller news before anyone else. I'll be keeping an eye on it and posting updates as they come in. And no, I'm still not worried that he's not going to sign.

It is now August 14th. The deadline to sign a 2008 MLB draft pick is tomorrow and the Pittsburg Pirates million-dollar prospect, Pedro Alvarez, has still not signed an official contract with the Pirates. Scott Boras’s client was the second overall pick in this year’s MLB Draft.

The Yankees signed Stanford LHP Jeremy Bleich to a $700,000 bonus according to Baseball America. He was a supplemental first-round pick, 44th overall. That figure, if correct, is below what a player in that slot would normally get. That suggests to me that Bleich’s elbow injury may require surgery.
