Pele vs George Best: Who is the Greater Legend?

The third issue of the VS series is here and after looking at great players and managers in the first two issues, this time we look at two great Legends. The two legends are George Best and Pele.

Pele was born in Tres Coreacous, Brazil in 1940 and from an early age loved playing the game of football.
He started playing football for Bauru AC as a youth from the years 1952 to 1956, ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: Soccer, Pelé, Brazil, Manchester United, Los Angeles Galaxy, Premiership

Today’s Daily Mail linked 18-year-old Brazilian Douglas Costa, dubbed the “new Ronaldinho” or the “new Anderson” depending on different sources, with a £21m move to Manchester United. The 18-year-old made his debut for Gremio on Saturday and scored in the first half against Brazilian powerhouse Botafogo, to further fuel his burgeoning reputation.
Costa has already turned out for Brazil’s under-19 international side, as well as gaining added experience training with the senior national team.
Back home, many compare Costa to another former Gremio starlet, Manchester United’s Anderson. According to club sources, Costa’s development is progressing faster than Anderson’s did, and with the vultures circling the Brazilian side are determined to extract as much money as possible for their young talent. Thankfully, Gremio recently tied the player down to a new contract that increased Costa’s buy-out clause from £5m to £21m.
Watching the footage from the weekend though, helps ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: Soccer, Manchester United, Brazil, Premiership, Ronaldinho, FC Barcelona

United Disrespected The FA Cup? That’s What The Media Would Have You Believe!

Every now and again when United are playing an FA Cup game, the commentators will remind us how we chose to withdraw from the competition in 2000, following our historic Treble winning season. Instead of taking part in one of the most prestigious cup competitions in the World, United instead took part in the World Club Championships.
Rivals fans will often talk about our arrogance to do such a thing, ‘who do we think we are?’ and the like. It was seen as a highly disrespectful action by our club and we will still receive bad press for it.
However, the truth behind our decision to pull out of the FA Cup that year has been brushed under the carpet.
For those of you who didn’t read my article at the start of the year, exposing the FA as the spineless fuckwits we already knew them to be, then I’ll summarise exactly what happened that year.
United were doing the country a favour, essentially, with the Sports Minister, Tony Banks, asking United fans to be understanding about the pressure ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: Soccer, Manchester United, Brazil, Premiership

Chelsea Fans Want Amr Zaki According To Recent Poll

In a recent poll, a large proportion of Chelsea fans want the newest face of the Premiership, Amr Zaki, to join the ranks of the Blues to deliver offensive effectiveness that the team has been lacking.
The Daily Mail published a poll that addressed the fundamental question: Which striker should Chelsea buy to become "the scorer"? The poll included names of eight strikers (including Zaki) like Sergio Aguero, Karim Benzema, Luis Fabiano, Ronaldo (Brazil), Andrei Arshavin, Robinho, and Andriy Shevchenko.

The Results? A staggering sweep for the Egyptian striker .
Zaki won with an impressive 47% of the total votes, far ahead of the Argentine striker Sergio Aguero of Atletico Madrid, who won only had 14%. The Frenchman Benzema gained a below-par 11% of the votes, Fabiano had 10%, and Ronaldo had 7%. The Euro 2008 Russian surprise player had 5%, while Robinho and Shevchenko received 3% of the fans' votes.
Temporarily, Zaki sits atop the Premiership goal scoring charts with ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: Soccer, Chelsea, Premiership, Robinho, Brazil, Andrei Arshavin

Benitez warns Man City about perils of new wealth

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez warned Manchester City ahead of Sunday's Premier League meeting that its newfound wealth will be exploited by clubs only willing to sell their players at excessive prices.

Man City's new Abu Dhabi owners are planning to splurge on players in January to turn the long underachieving club into a global force. They began their mission last month with the surprise capture of Brazil forward Robinho.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: Soccer, Liverpool, Manchester City, Brazil, Robinho
