Kobe Drains 40 For 100th Time In Career

Kobe Bryant has been labelled the best player in the world by millions of fans around the world.
Kobe Bryant hit 17-of-29 shots and a three-pointer for 40 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals in Tuesday's win over the Pistons. This brought him to 40 points 100 times in his career. (For those of you who aren't good at math, that is a lot.)
This is just an amazing record to me. To be able to score 40 points 100 times! That is just astonishing.
I'm sure every single one of you know about his 81 point game, the second most points in a game ever. Next to Wilt's 101 point game.
My question is, is he too old to reach at least 175 games with 40 points. I think he can easily get to 150, but is 175 out of reach?
Kobe is the most clutch player in the NBA, no doubt. He can score at will, and drive to the hoop and hit an almost impossible shot. Kobe is not human. He is just so good.
Kobe reaching 40 points in a total of 100 games is an amazing stat that probably will not be touched for ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Adam Morrison, Los Angeles Lakers, Andrew Bynum, Phil Jackson

Pivot Points: 10 Undeniable Truths So Far This Season

The start of this NBA season has been more than any reasonable fan could have ever expected.

Although we are only an eightth of the way through circumstances have touched the whole range of human emotions.

We have been surprised, disappointed, exhilirated, confused, angry, and heart-broken, and many of those emotions may have occurred during the course of one game.

Allen Iverson may have scored his final points, Brandon Jennings has announced his arrival, and Jameer Nelson is lost again.

We have seen some of the best basketball played and we have been witness to some of the worst.

We have gasped at herculean feats and been slain by our own exaggerated expectations. There has been enough news and speculation to fill a whole season, yet the 20 game mark has not been breached.

What else could possibly be in store for the rest of the year? I don't have an answer, but I can tell you what has transpired so far.

There are some things that are as certain as death and taxes, and Pivot Points is here to ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum

Despite the many inconsistencies over the Lakers' last two games, there was one consistent source of scoring: Andrew Bynum .

Andrew Bynum: The Top Center of the Next Decade?

I know it's early in the season, but have you seen Andrew Bynum? This young man is coming of age, showing great skills, footwork, and hands, looking like an All-Star. So I ask this question, knowing I may be putting premature pressure on the big fella: Can he be the best center in the league?
As of now that title belongs to Dwight Howard, aka Superman 2, and deservedly so.
Howard is the best defensive big man in the league and is an explosive athlete who is developing his offensive game. Howard is also a gold medalist and the leader of a franchise which comes with much more pressure than Mr. Bynum has to deal with.
That being said, when I look at the current level both are at and their potential to improve (if both remain healthy), I see Bynum having more upside. It seems to me that Howard relies on his superior athleticism to dominate his opponent while Bynum looks to have superior touch and footwork.
Being the better athlete can be effective but that doesn't last as long as having ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Andrew Bynum, Dwight Howard, Los Angeles Lakers

Lakers will get a couple of early tests in Phoenix and Denver

The defending champions will get Andrew Bynum back from an elbow injury, but Pau Gasol remains sidelined because of a strained hamstring. Suns and Nuggets are among top teams in the West.
                         >

With so many games left until June, and so many twists and turns inevitably awaiting the Lakers, it's too early to call the next two days a test.
