"What if I beg? Will that bring old
Tony back?" (Boston Globe Photo) Let’s hope so. I’m
not sure what can be said about Tony Allen that hasnt’ been said. He’s getting $5 mil. over 2 years… and he’s either going to be a steal or a bona fide bust by the time the contract is over. I don’t see any real middle ground, because we’ve ...

The Globe has a little tidbit buried at
the end of an article about Marcus Camby. They
report that the Celtics are still strongly interested in signing Eddie House and Tony Allen. The source said House and Allen are both also receiving interest ...
Unfortunately, James Posey signed with the New Orleans
Hornets. In my book, this is a huge blow
to the Celtics. They lost a key contributor on offense and defense. Posey is the type of player that all coaches like. He is a hard-nosed defensive ...
Every offseason and free agency period, there are
teams and players who come out smelling like roses.
This season is no different. Let’s look at the winners of this summer this far… Winners - James Posey, Chris Paul and the Hornets, ...
You can say what you will about Posey’s
limited offensive game and after-the-whistle antics, but at this
point it’s hard to deny the man’s effectiveness. In four years when his body is wearing down New Orleans will be overpaying for Posey’s services — but if he can help them snatch a title before then, well, you won’t hear anybody complaining about it.
Here's John Hollinger's take on the Posey deal
: It's true that Posey brings three things to
the table: defense, rebounding and 3-point shooting. He's not an all-defense guy, but he's an above-average defender who can play multiple positions, and that's certainly helpful. So are the 3s -- in his past three campaigns he's hit 40.3 percent, 37.5 percent and 38.0 percent from downtown. And ...
James Posey said last week his No. 1
choice was to return to the Celtics, but ultimately
couldn't resist the lure of a more lucrative contract from the New Orleans Hornets and bolted for the better deal last Thursday. Fellow free agents Eddie House ...
Just a month after winning their 17th NBA
Championship, the Boston Celtics suddenly looked vulnerable after losing
swingman James Posey to the New Orleans Hornets. After refusing to tack on a fourth year to Posey's contract, the Cs are in the hunt to ...
According to Danny Ainge, the Celtics have reached
two year agreements with both Tony Allen and Eddie
House. Ainge would not be specific on the financial figures, but according to a source, both are being paid in the mid-$2 million range. For Eddie House, the money is roughly half the mid-level exception of $5.585 million. The Celtics did not have to use any of the mid-level on Allen, ...
The Celtics have displayed interest in free agent
forward Devean George, according to an NBA source. But
general manager Danny Ainge is taking a "call us, we won't call you" stance on prospective players after announcing Tony Allen and Eddie House ...
Eddie House and Tony Allen reportedly won't be
following James Posey out of Boston.
It's said that fans have a tendency to
overrate their own teams players - a tendency that
General Managers can fall into as well. Part of this is due to watching those players every day and developing attachments to pieces and parts of their ...
In this edition of the Four-Point Play, I’ll
take a look at James Posey’s decision to sign
with the Hornets, Eddie House’s eventual departure, the Celtics’ interest in Tyronn Lue, and the release of the Celtics Championship ...
James Posey is a member of the New
Orleans Hornets because his practical side trumped his emotional
side. Posey was the Celtics sixth man and designated defender during...
The Celtics lost James Posey to the open
market, but today they were able to retain a
couple of other free-agent reserves from their championship season. The Celtics agreed to terms with guards Eddie House and Tony Allen to return,...
