Ranking The Southeast Divison

These are my predictions for the 2008-2009 NBA Season for the Southeast Division.
  1. Orlando Magic
Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu, and Rashard Lewis managed to 50+ games last year and clinch the #1 spot in the Southeast division. I don't see how that will change in any way. Orlando will only get better. The addition of Mickael Pietrus was a great free agent pick up. He is a poor man's James Posey. He can play defense and hit open shots. Orlando will still be the best team in the Southeast division, and might even make a deep push far into the playoffs.
  Projected Starting 5 :
Jameer Nelson
Mickael Petruis
Hedo Turkoglu
Rashard Lewis
Dwight Howard
  2. Miami Heat
Dwyane Wade, Michael Beasley, and Shawn Marion are an excellent trio. They can play defense, score the ball at will, and win games. Miami lacks a proven point guard, but with Mario Chalmers, playing with a chip on his shoulder, he should have a very solid rookie season.
The major problem for Miami is that they lack ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Dwyane Wade

US Men’s Olympic Basketball Team Crushes Germany

The U.S. Men’s Olympic Basketball Team dominated the Germany National Team, 106-57.
Dirk Nowitski is contemplating retiring from international basketball and will concentrate on winning an NBA title.
The US Team was lead by Dwight Howard who had 22 points on nine of 10 shooting and 10 rebounds.
Can anyone beat the US team ? The original Dream Team is and will always be the best team perhaps ever formed bu this team may be a close second.
The next generation of players are now making their mark. A mature Kobe Bryant and Lebron James are at their prime. This team will probably stick together for the next Olympics until another generation comes along.
I dont see the U.S. losing a game until the Olympics in 2016.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James

The True Top 10 NBA Centers

  1. Dwight Howard
Honestly, is there any question on why he shouldn't be? His one weakness is his poor free-throw shooting, but other than that he's a strong defender who shoots for a high field-goal percentage.
At just 22, Howard will continue to improve defensively. He'll soon be averaging around three blocks and 14-15 rebounds per game to go along along with his 20 points.

  2. Al Jefferson
Very similar in age to Dwight Howard, but a little older. His game has matured the past two seasons, and with Kevin Love on the otherside of him look at him to have an even bigger year for the T-Wolves this year.
Jefferson is a solid free-throw shooter, but he doesn't have as good of a field-goal percentage as Howard. It's a decent percentage, but it needs to be improved on.

  3. Amare Stoudemire
Most centers in the league are really combination power forwards-centers. Amare has all the capabilities to be a 25 and 10 player but he hasn't done that yet. He ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Bosh

Dwyane Wade Is Back

After struggling to carry a lackluster Miami Heat team to 15 wins, many thought Dwyane Wade would never be the same. Those doubters seem to have been proven wrong. Wade is the leading scorer for Team USA, and has been one of the most consistent players on the team.
Things definitely seem to be looking up for the Heat. Miami's team seems to have been rejuvenated, with the drafting of Michael Beasley and retaining of Shawn Marion. It seems these acquisitions have inspired Wade to be the player he once was.
In the 2008 Summer Olympics Wade has averaged 17.3 points in only 18.7 minutes per game. It seems Wade has gotten his explosiveness back and looks better than ever.
It definitely will not be easy for the Heat to win the division, as Orlando has become a contender, Washington is solid, and Charlotte and Atlanta are quickly rising in talent and experience.
It should be an exciting year for both Miami Heat and NBA fans, as one of the league's best players is back with a vengeance.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat, Michael Beasley, Shawn Marion, Orlando Magic

Russians Coming to Play Magic in Preseason

The Orlando Magic's seven-game preseason schedule released on Tuesday will feature three straight home games and be tinged with a little international flavor. The slate begins on Oct. 6 at Amway Arena against Atlanta (against whom the Magic will also open the regular season at home on Oct. 29) and ends on Oct. 22 against visiting Memphis. There is also a neutral-site game against rival Miami on Oct. 18 in Jacksonville.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat

Report: Lakers to Add Chinese 'Magic'

In the LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS, Elliott Teaford reports "the Lakers and point guard Sun Yue have agreed to terms on a two-season contract, the team confirmed Thursday. The Lakers hope to sign Sun formally within the next few days, team spokesman John Black said. ‘Hopefully, it will get done soon,' Black said. Sun, known as the Chinese Magic Johnson because of his eye-catching playmaking ability, will face his future teammate Kobe Bryant when China plays the United States on Sunday in the Olympic Games opener in Beijing. The Lakers drafted the 6-foot-9, 212-pound Sun in the second round in 2007. He spent last season with Aoshen, his Beijing club team, and also played with the Chinese National team in preparation for the Olympics.”

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NBA, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant
