Throughout this long, strange season, no one has held himself and his teammates more accountable than Rafer Alston, the veteran point guard who was pushed into some serious playing time due to Devin Harris's strained groin. And there was Alston earlier tonight, sitting in front of his locker and pointing the finger right at himself and the rest of the players in the lockerroom after Lawrence Frank was fired. When the topic of injuries came up, Alston said that Frank, "wasn't dealt the royal flush. More like a pair of twos. But he tried to fight and he was tough about it. Every day was something." The Nets have suffered an unusual amount of injuries, playing several games with only eight guys in uniform. That's a pretty good excuse for a poor record but 0-16 is inexcusable and Alston made it clear that the players are the ones most responsible for that, not their former coach.
