Caracter still in NCAA, Clark moving up

Forwards Derrick Caracter and Earl Clark both talked about playing in the NBA sooner than later when they initially enrolled at Louisville out of North Jersey three years ago. But the dream of a pro career may only work out for one of them. The 6-10 Clark seems destined to be a lottery pick after this, his junior year. Caracter, on the other hand, appears to be headed to an NAIA school (most probably Oklahoma State), according to Cardinals’ coach Rick Pitino in a story printed in the Louisville Courier-Journal. Caracter averaged 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds as a sophomore, but he was a major distraction at times and declared for the NBA draft after the season. When he withdrew and wanted to return to school, Pitino told him he would take him back in the 2009-2010 if he met a list of conditions that included paying his own way to school. Caracter’s mother informed the Louisville staff of her son’s decision last week.
