ATLANTA (AP) -- Les Miles will remain LSU's
football coach rather than bolt to Michigan. LSU athletic
director Skip Bertman said Miles told the team he would stay at the school just hours before the No. 5 Tigers played No. 14 Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday.

Bill Martin, Michigan's athletic director, had received permission
Wednesday to talk to Miles after Saturday's Southeastern Conference
title game, but had not called to set up a meeting or schedule a phone call. LSU, meanwhile, was pushing hard behind the scenes to keep Miles, offering a multi-year contract extension that would boost his pay by millions.
There's a new twist in Michigan's ongoing search

Hard to believe that "Pistol" Pete Maravich has
been dead for 20 years. He suffered a heart
attack 20 years ago today while warming up for a pickup basketball game. At LSU, he averaged 44.2 points a game over his three-year career and was an NBA All-Star, averaging 24.2 points a game. He retired in 1980 after a leg injury made it impossible for him to play at his desired level.
If LSU defeats Ohio State in the BCS
Game, many schools will have legitimates claims to the
mythical college football title. 5 other two loss schools could present a good case along with LSU. Since the NCAA isn't worried about finding a true champion, let's just give all these schools a national title.
“41-14”. It is more than just a score
to Ohio State and LSU. To both teams, it
represents the stepping stone that each used to reach New Orleans in 2008. No matter how many ways you can list how Ohio State and LSU are different - both teams share this one common denominator that led them to where they are now: On the verge of facing off against each other for the National Championship.

Michigan's pursuit of LSU coach Les Miles is
apparently not over -- despite the fact that Miles
signed a contract extension with the Tigers last week.
We're all well aware that Les Miles is
the likely candidate to fill the Michigan opening. And
naturally LSU, and most of Louisiana, is worried about losing him. But this may be a bit much. The school is planning a march today called "March for ...

Comment: The No. 1 team Ohio State should

Sources have told ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit that barring
any unforeseen circumstances, Michigan will announce early next week
it has reached an agreement with LSU coach Les Miles to be its next head football coach.
Sources close to both Les Miles and the
LSU administration report the coach has reached a multi-year
contract extension with his current school and will remove himself from consideration as the next Michigan coach. Details of the extension are ...
It took long enough, but someone had to
say it. The college football world does not revolve
around Michigan. The resignation of Lloyd Carr has removed the self-obsessed rock most Wolverine fans have lived in under for the past decade. If a coach at a school from a state who's biggest accomplishment is the deep dish pizza can turn down the supposed holy grail of coaching positions, so can anyone.
