Faded Glory: Alabama Crimson Tide Could Use a Time Machine

What the Alabama Crimson Tide really need to get back to the good old days is a time machine to travel back to when they played lackluster conference opponents like Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State every year. Legendary 'Bama coach Paul "Bear" Bryant called that regular scheduling arrangement "schedule luck."
With only a seven-game Southeastern Conference schedule back in the pre-SEC expansion days, the four easy wins for 'Bama every year against the conference's weakest teams made the SEC effectively a machine to produce football championships and bowl money for the Tide.
Now, the Crimson Tide could spend $100 million for a coach if they want to, but the new circumstances are undermining Alabama's dreams of a new football dynasty.
There were only 10 schools in the Southeastern Conference in those days, and there was no conference championship game. Alabama did not play either Florida or Georgia on an annual basis.
The Tide effectively enjoyed a three-game SEC schedule ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Mississippi State Bulldogs

Mississippi State Football: A Realistic Preview of the Bulldogs' Upcoming Season

To be honest with you guys, I really was not planning on writing an article today. However, you guys will not believe this:
Jonathan Flippo, a recent high school graduate from Mississippi, wrote on a College Football forum on Facebook, that the Mississippi State Bulldogs would win the SEC West, and go 11-1 this season—with their only loss coming at LSU!
Of course, Flippo also predicted that the Mississippi State Bulldogs would be 4-0 heading into their showdown in Baton Rouge with the LSU Tigers. However, he would not stop there.
Moreover, Flippo added that he also believes that Mississippi State will CRUSH their first four opponents, which include Louisiana Tech, Auburn, and Georgia Tech.
After being asked whether he was being serious about all of this, Flippo responded by saying that he was VERY CONFIDENT that Mississippi State would CRUSH Louisiana Tech, Auburn, and Georgia Tech!
What's more is that Flippo also said that he was CONFIDENT that Mississippi State would ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Mississippi State Bulldogs, LSU Fightin' Tigers, Les Miles, Derek Dooley, Sylvester Croom, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

Five Most Overlooked Games that Could Determine SEC Title

 1. Auburn at Mississippi State (Sept. 13)
Auburn gets a tough test in their SEC opener from the same team that came into Jordan-Hare and shocked the Tigers last season. Auburn will still be breaking in a new quarterback.
Whether it is Blake Todd, Kodi Burns or both is anyone's guess. If Mississippi State can run the ball, control the clock and play bend-but-don't-break defense, Auburn could be in an 0-1 hole after the first week of conference play.

 2. Alabama at Georgia (Sept. 27)
With all the tough road games on Georgia's schedule people seem to forget the early season test they will get from the team that took them to overtime last year in Tuscaloosa.
If Alabama upsets Clemson in the season opener and wins a tough but winnable game at Arkansas, they could be headed to Athens 4-0. With tough road games in the two previous weeks for the Dawgs at South Carolina and at Arizona State, Georgia could be running on empty by the time this one rolls around.
Then, ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Georgia Bulldogs
