Could the sports earthquake that hit the west
coast, or better yet hit O.J. Mayo and USC,
have caused enough of a ripple effect to come all the way back to the east coast, or more precisely, North Carolina?
One of the web forums I go to
(it is a general sports one, about all sports/teams)
is written in Italian (For those that do not know I speak Italian so-so, write good enough to be able to be understood, most of the time (lol)) and I was reading their section about the NBA.

The second ranked Tar Heels, coming off a
three game series with UVa on the road and
facing the top ranked University of Miami next, had to play a mid week game against Winthrop, a game that I kept calling a trap game.
With so much emphasis being put on the
three players thinking of leaving I wanted to do
a small blog about the players who are coming into the program.
Coach Tim Floyd and the Trojans face top-seeded
North Carolina on Friday in a regional semifinal.
Eleanor Roosevelt's Derrick Thomas verbals to the Nittany
Lions.
In a game that was shortened by the
weather it was the Tar Heels that came out
on the short end of the stick. Second ranked North Carolina (42-9, 20-6 in the ACC) took a loss thanks to the hard play of Virginia (34-17, 14-13 in the ACC) and the hard rain from the sky.
With few games left in the Tar Heels'
baseball season the team wanted to make a statement
each time and every time they stepped on the field, especially when facing another Top 25 team.
I think that if I had been asked
to sum up the game between #9 North Carolina
(8-6) and visiting #14 Navy (10-5) in the ACC Men's Lacrosse Tournament, I would have to use the old proverb that says "mistakes cost dearly".
One hit, and the Lady Heels were knocked
out of the ACC Softball Tournament. North Carolina (50-10-1)
lost to North Carolina State (31-26) by the score of 1-0.
After the first game went very well for
the Tar Heels, they needed to do just as
well in the second match. Behind a great job on the mound by Rob Wooten (4-1) second ranked North Carolina (42-8, 20-5 in the ACC) did just that.
As The Greatest Generation of sportswriters continues to
lament the advent of sports bloggers, those unschooled nihilists
who care not a whit for the word-smithing craft, I've often wondered exactly which Hemingways and Dostoevskys these sports ...
It was pretty easy going for #13 North
Carolina (50-9-1) over Virginia (15-38) in the opening round
of the ACC Softball tournament as the Heels won 6-0.
As we continue to wait for a decision
from the three players testing the waters, more news
comes out of the Men's basketball program, and it is not good. Mike Copeland, a senior forward for the team, injured his right knee last week while playing in a pick up game.
Just when you couldn't get enough of the
trio and whether or not they are going to
go pro or they are just testing the waters for the next draft, here comes another small tidbit to stir up the "rumor mill" once more.
After beating the guests in game one of
the two game series, the second ranked North Carolina
Tar Heels (40-8) made no bones about doing it again, beating North Florida by a score of 11 to 5.

, here's North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough jumping off a
roof into (hopefully) a pool. The reason the scene in Almost Famous worked so well is because that's the type of thing only a famous person could get away ...
One of the buzzing stories around the internets
are some photos of UNC players Tyler Hansbrough and
Bobby Frasor jumping off a balcony and into a pool . The pictures were taken at a SAE frat house and show both Psycho T and Frasor (close friends) at ...
Reading the North Carolina Athletic official site I
see that Danielle Spaulding has been selected as the
Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.
From all indications, the MEAC Basketball Tournament will
stake its claim somewhere in the state of North
Carolina beginning in 2009. But no matter the city, North Carolina is the best state to host the MEAC Basketball Tournament. Here's five reasons why.
