In a game that was shortened by the weather it was the Tar Heels that came out on the short end of the stick. Second ranked North Carolina (42-9, 20-6 in the ACC) took a loss thanks to the hard play of Virginia (34-17, 14-13 in the ACC) and the hard rain from the sky.

After the first game went very well for the Tar Heels, they needed to do just as well in the second match. Behind a great job on the mound by Rob Wooten (4-1) second ranked North Carolina (42-8, 20-5 in the ACC) did just that.
