Virginia Tech-Virginia: What Hokie Fans Think About the Rivalry

Any time the Hokies take on the Hoos, everyone's interest is drawn regardless of each team's record. It pretty much has to be this way because Virginia has been down the last few years.
In fact, Virginia has beaten Virginia Tech only once since 1999. Matt Schaub and company defeated the Hokies in Charlottesville during the 2003 season, and the play that put the Hokies under was the fake field goal (remember, Schaub used to be the holder) bootleg pass to current Pittsburgh Steeler Heath Miller.
The Hoos went on to win 35-21 but have not seen the win column since.
Virginia has had some decent teams since 2003, and back in 2007 the game actually decided who would represent the Coastal Division in the ACC. Tech prevailed and went on to defeat Boston College in the ACC Championship.
However, the last two years the Cavaliers have been playing for pride instead of championships.
Virginia had a chance to make a bowl last season if they beat the Hokies, and they came pretty close. The Hoos ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Virginia Tech Hokies

ACC Predictions for Nov 28: Miami, UNC, VT, BC, Wake All Win

Before I get to the big games of the weekend where the ACC will take on the SEC, lets take a look at some of the undercard games in the conference.
Miami Hurricanes at South Florida Bulls Saturday 3:30PM ET TV: ABC/ESPN Line: Miami -1 An interesting note about this game is that it is off most boards; I had to dig to find a line on it. Despite the close proximity, these teams will be meeting for just the second time ever on Saturday. Miami defeated USF in the only other meeting in 2005. The Bulls have played much better at home this season, but those numbers are skewed with two contests coming against 1-AA competition early on. Miami is playing better on both sides of the ball in their last three games after a brief mid season slump. I like an improving Hurricanes run defense to slow down BJ Daniels and South Florida enough to gut out a win. Miami Wins Miami Covers -1 Virginia Tech Hokies at Virginia Cavaliers Saturday 3:30PM ET TV: ABC/ESPN ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, Virginia Tech Hokies

NC State coordinator Bible has leukemia (AP)

North Carolina State coach Tom O'Brien says offensive coordinator Dana Bible has been diagnosed with leukemia. Bible didn't travel with the Wolfpack in last weekend's loss at Virginia Tech and also will miss this weekend's season finale against No. 23 North Carolina. O'Brien says the 56-year-old Bible will be hospitalized for 30 days of treatment.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Tom O'Brien, Virginia Tech Hokies, North Carolina Tar Heels

Conference Call: Tar Heels torrid in ACC

Each week, Sporting News' Matt Hayes ranks the Division I-A conferences—and the teams within each league.
4. ACC
1. Georgia Tech
2. Clemson
3. North Carolina
4. Virginia Tech
5. Miami
6. Boston College
7. Florida State
8. Duke
9. Wake Forest
10. N.C. State
11. Virginia
12. Maryland
Rising
North Carolina: How in the world did this team lose its first three league games? Unthinkable home losses to Virginia and Florida State will keep Tar Heels from playing in their first BCS bowl.
Falling
N.C. State: Tom O'Brien's teams at N.C. State (and Boston College) always have played well in November. After blowout losses to Clemson and Virginia Tech, you can scratch that.

Virginia Tech: Hokie Fans Still Skeptical of the Offense

Virginia Tech went into College Park on Saturday and laid down the hammer on the Terp's, but that was expected. Maryland had only two wins this season, and one came against an FCS school (James Madison) in overtime.
But if you're a Hokies fan you have to look at the positives. Tech was a big favorite over East Carolina and scored only one touchdown. They struggled to move the ball through the air.
Saturday against Maryland, Tyrod Taylor had one of his best games through the air and on the ground. Taylor finally didn't hesitate to run the ball out of the pocket and ended up with 80 yards rushing and over 250 passing yards and three scores through the air.
His running ability opens up the pass. Taylor has to continue to do this.
Now the Hokies attention is shifting towards NC State, and many of the Virginia Tech faithful still aren't very confident in their teams ability. More so, the teams consistency is a major area of concern.
"I just have a feeling, I don't know if it will happen, but I ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Virginia Tech Hokies
