It's a cinch that it isn't going to get any easier the rest of the way, either. Coach Wulff and the Cougs saw first-hand just how good true freshman Jacquizz Rogers is. At the risk of inserting hyperbole into this recap, Rogers (or Quizz as he's known around Corvallis) is truly all that and then some. He's an exciting player who appears humble enough until the football is handed off to him. Once Quizz has the rock, he's gone. Against the Cougar defense, Quizz broke a sweat rushing for 168 yards on 23 carries, but that's about it. As I and the majority of Cougar Nation have been enjoying the success the BYU football team is achieving on the gridiron with its 5-0 start, many of BYU's die-hard fans are still mired in skepticism about the potential of this team. Don't get me wrong—these doubters are also enjoying the 5-0 start. However, they feel that BYU is somehow overrated and over-ranked, and soon the dream of busting the BCS will come crashing down. The Cougars are led by fourth-year head coach Bronco Mendenhall. BYU currently owns the nation's longest win streak at 15 games. Moreover, the Cougars have posted two consecutive 11-win seasons, highlighted by Las Vegas Bowl victories over Pac-10 teams Oregon and UCLA. I guess this is becoming somewhat of a tradition. I want to give my two cents about the rankings, and I also want to hear what everyone else is thinking. It is always good to bounce ideas off of people to reassure yourself of your own opinion. I am basing my opinions solely off the AP poll. The Cougars dropped one spot due to the USC Trojans beating the 23rd-ranked Ducks. No matter how much I hate USC and the Pac-10, the jump is warranted. USC has played a tougher schedule, and while the stumble against the Beavers was tragic for their National Championship hopes, they have few question marks left on their schedule.
