With Devendorf out for the season due to
an injury, with Josh Wright gone from the team
because of academic/personal problems, with such a young team for Hall of Fame head coach Jim Boeheim, the same old question has come back once again to taunt the Orange nation. Man to man or the famous 2-3 zone?
"I didn't play hard." "I didn't come to
play today." Context is so important sometimes. If Terrell
Owens said the above statements he would be grilled mercilessly on talk radio for a week. If Brett Favre said them, he'd be hailed as a true warrior, unashamed to admit his own faults. For Paul Harris, you have to realize the context of why he said what he said. It's probably best to look at ...

Hot college basketball coach wives? I guess there
are a few, but not many.
For all of those that thought Team USA
was just going for "the heck of it", watching
the first game of the Olympics, a rout of China 101 to 70, might just prove them a bit wrong.
I have to say that of all the
games I wanted to see, the Men's Basketball Team
win was it, especially after turning on Mike & Mike in the Morning and listening to some NBA "so called" expert explain to me, in a way that was so pompous it made me sick, how this team wasn't the right one when playing teams like Greece.
Head basketbal coach at Syracuse, Jim Boeheim, talks
about the current team, 2007-2008 season and his Hall
Of Fame career.
I keep hearing that the rest of the
world is catching up to the US basketball and
I keep watching LeBron James and Company tearing up the opponents on the hardwood. The last one was Germany, who was basically crushed by the Red, White and Blue wave by the score of 106-57.
Courtesy of The Axeman, you just have to
check out this in-depth report from WSYR that will
shake you to your very core and make you question the very world you live in. There's no easy way to say this so I'm just gonna say it. Jim Boeheim cursed. I know...just breathe...it's okay...it's not your fault....it's not your fault....son, it's not your fault...
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The remaining, active members of
the Syracuse University men's basketball team, already lacking depth
and experienced leadership since the season-ending ACL injures to juniors Andy Rautins and Eric Devendorf, are doing their best to self-inflict their own season-ending ACL injuries to avoid playing in the current season any longer. Freshmen Donte Greene, Jonny Flynn, Scoop ...
At Jim Boeheim's Big Orange Basketball Camp for
boys ages 8-18, you can imagine that fundamentals are
a driving force behind the lessons learned. Hitting your foul shots and limiting turnovers are probably at the core of what Jim teaches. As far as I can tell, there's still room at the camp, and if they're willing to be flexible on the age thing I think we can get Arinze, Donte and Scoop in there
Let’s whisk ourselves away from real life and
onto an imaginary small island that hosts the new
version of the famous reality television show “Survivor”. Jeff Probst has been replaced this time around by your new host Doctor Daryl Gross. The tribe leader is Jim Boeheim, even though it has been reported that once he steps down Mike Hopkins will replace him.
Syracuse went out with a bang this year,
ending their dramatic NCAA Tournament hopes in excruciating fashion,
at the barrage of threes from Villanova. But chin up, Orange fans, you guys are almost a lock for the NIT. This marks the 2nd consecutive year that Syracuse has failed to make the NCAA Tournament, and only the second such time in the Jim Boeheim era (the other being '81-'82),
If you watched the US Men's Basketball team
I think you can draw two things from it,
or at least I know I could.
I think it's time to put out an
"All Points Bulletin" for the haters and doubters of
this US Men's Basketball team (where are you Skip Bayless?) What Coach K's squad did yesterday is show that when in the groove the Europeans might have closed the gap a bit, but the reality is that the United States is still the best at playing the game.
I've been following the Wesley Johnson story, or
should I say "saga", for a while now, between
the blog by Sean over at TNIAAM and then his follow up interview with Clone Chronicle, who also had a lot to say on the Johnson's matter.
For Carmelo Anthony this week has been a
bit like the famous movie: "The Good, The Bad
and The Ugly".
Reading about recruits coming to Syracuse and hearing
head coach Jim Boeheim talk about his SU team
and the USA team, plus the small blog about one of the Orange's ex players who is now going to be an assistant coach, made me think about another ex player who I (as well as many others) thought would have a stint in the NBA.
As I continued to dig over the blog
about Brandon Jennings and his going to Europe because
he didn't pass the SAT's I found another piece that has head coach Jim Boeheim talking about the situation. And just like last blog I did coach Boeheim is sharp and to the point, and just like last time, I believe him to be fully correct.
For those of you that follow Syracuse basketball
but didn't see this (and I don't know how
you wouldn't), two nights ago, in his debut of the NBA Summer League, Donte Greene had 40 points. Yes, let me repeat that, forty!
Even with head coach Jim Boeheim deep into
his USA Basketball commitments it doesn't look like his
coaching staff is letting anything, or should I say anyone, get past their attentive eyes.
