	<title>Caracter still in NCAA, Clark moving up</title>

	<description>&lt;p&gt; Forwards Derrick Caracter and Earl Clark both talked about playing in the NBA sooner than later when they initially enrolled at Louisville out of North Jersey three years ago. 

 But the dream of a pro career may only work out for one of them. 

 The 6-10 Clark seems destined to be a lottery pick after this, his junior year. Caracter, on the other hand, appears to be headed to an NAIA school (most probably Oklahoma State), according to Cardinals&amp;#8217; coach Rick Pitino in a story printed in the Louisville Courier-Journal. 

 Caracter averaged 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds as a sophomore, but he was a major distraction at times and declared for the NBA draft after the season. When he withdrew and wanted to return to school, Pitino told him he would take him back in the 2009-2010 if he met a list of conditions that included paying his own way to school. 

 Caracter&amp;#8217;s mother informed the Louisville staff of her son&amp;#8217;s decision last week.

 New York, New York.&amp;nbsp; That is what comes to mind when talking about Rick Pitino, the Italian from New York who knows basketball.&amp;nbsp; Pitino was once a basketball player himself, before he ever coached the sport.&amp;nbsp; 
 Pitino played college ball for UMass and was a star point guard for the Minutemen.&amp;nbsp; Pitino lays claim to the sixth-best single season assist total.&amp;nbsp; Pitino moved on to coaching at Hawaii for a short time, before becoming an assistant at Syracuse under new head coach Jim Boeheim. 
 His first big time coaching job was at Boston University from 1978-1983.&amp;nbsp;He would turn the Boston program around, by returning it to the NCAA tournament.&amp;nbsp; After Boston, Pitino would venture into NBA waters as an assistant coach.
