UNC: Searching For Motivation?

I'm going to step out of the realm of basketball recruiting for a few minutes and discuss the upcoming ACC basketball season, and it's heralded champions-in-waiting, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.
On the sidelines of the UNC football team's win over once-heralded Notre Dame, Tyler Hansbrough patiently answered reporter Stacey Dale's familiar questions, such as what Tyler has been doing in the off-season, how the team expects to do, and of course, how does the team stay motivated.
Last season, the answer was quick: to avenge the early NCAA loss to Georgetown, a team that UNC had on the mat with mere minutes to play.
To a man, each player had a fire in their eyes to return to the NCAA and to get over the hump, meaning, 'reach the Final Four'.
When the 2007-08 team reached that goal, they talked about how they had achieved what they set out to do, that it was their focus all season. That is, unfortunately, the likely point when they lost the championship.
Their motivation and ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Basketball, North Carolina Tar Heels, Tyler Hansbrough

Road to the Final Four at Ford Field: 10 High Strung Teams

Who needs the 35 second shot clock? These ten teams have made a habit out of flying up and down the court looking to score as quickly as possible. All ten teams do it differently looking for the open court three, a thunderous dunk in transition, or a quick stop and pop.

 10. Memphis
Coach John Calipari calls his offense the "Princeton Offense on Steroids." It's a pretty appropriate name for an offense that scored at will last year and will do so again in 2009.
The Tigers will back cut opponents to death to create easy scoring opportunities. Memphis's ability to create turnovers and score at will in transition makes the Tigers lethal in the half court and the open court.

 9. UTEP
The Miners like to get up and down at the tune of 73 possessions per game, 17th best in the country. If they could shoot better than last year's 43.3-percent, 211th in the country, UTEP would be unstoppable.
The Miners are first in the country in preventing steals and seventh in the ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Basketball, Duke Blue Devils, North Carolina Tar Heels, Jonny Flynn, Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson

NCAAB Preseason Top 25(2008-2009) Season

After last season, a lot of talented freshmen left after their first year of college basketball. Some teams were fortunate enough to have players returning for the next season. Here are my preseason top 25:

 1. North Carolina
With Tyler Hansbrough staying, without a doubt they are my favorites to win the championship. He will be in his senior this year and with the return of Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington they are the best team in the country.

2. UCLA

3. Texas

4. Connecticut

5. Louisville

6. Michigan State

7. Notre Dame

8. Gonzaga

9. Pittsburgh

10. Duke

11. Purdue

12. Marquette

13. Arizona State

14. Tennessee

15. Florida

16. Georgetown

17. Memphis

18. Villanova

19. Davidson

20. Virgina Tech

 21. Arizona
(If they got all of thier expected freshman they would be No. ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Basketball, North Carolina Tar Heels, Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Michigan State Spartans
