ATLANTA (AP) -- Les Miles will remain LSU's
football coach rather than bolt to Michigan. LSU athletic
director Skip Bertman said Miles told the team he would stay at the school just hours before the No. 5 Tigers played No. 14 Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday.

Bill Martin, Michigan's athletic director, had received permission
Wednesday to talk to Miles after Saturday's Southeastern Conference
title game, but had not called to set up a meeting or schedule a phone call. LSU, meanwhile, was pushing hard behind the scenes to keep Miles, offering a multi-year contract extension that would boost his pay by millions.

It took long enough, but someone had to
say it. The college football world does not revolve
around Michigan. The resignation of Lloyd Carr has removed the self-obsessed rock most Wolverine fans have lived in under for the past decade. If a coach at a school from a state who's biggest accomplishment is the deep dish pizza can turn down the supposed holy grail of coaching positions, so can anyone.

Kirk Ferentz must have a heck of an
agent. That's about the only reason I can think
of why Vegas is laying 9-2 odds that Ferentz will be the next coach at Michigan.That puts him behind only Les Miles, and well ahead of everybody else.
