Texas aims to avoid another loss to A&M (AP)

Texas has taken control of its annual series with Oklahoma, gone 15-3 against ranked opponents since 2005 and won its last five bowl games. Texas A&M;, though, has been a troublesome opponent for Mack Brown's Longhorns. The Aggies have twice upset the heavily favored Longhorns in the last three season.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners, Mack Brown

BCS Bowl Predictions: Pitt In, Cincy Out

After yet another ho-hum weekend of a forgettable college football season, it's finally starting to get exciting.
All this noise about the BCS and the regular season isn't just noise anymore.
Fraught with intriguing story lines, bitter rivalries, Monte Carlo-like revenge, and BCS-or-bust championship games, the next two weeks of college football with will feature some of the most compelling and meaningful games of the season.
Finally.
Three games in particular will feature a head-to-head battle for a BCS game. The winner will go on to play on the big stage, while the loser will likely be destined for "just-another" December Bowl. The games to watch are:
No.5 Cincinnati at No. 9 Pittsburgh No. 16 Oregon State at No. 8 Oregon No. 7 Georgia Tech vs. No. 18 Clemson
Not to mention the National Championship semi-final,otherwise knows as the SEC Championship Game, has yet to be played as well. Another intriguing story line. Another hate-filled, storybook SEC rivalry in the brewing.

Big 12 South 2010 Preview

With the Big 12 South wrapped up and Texas pretty much penciled into the national championship, I felt the need to supply Bleacher Report with a look to the future.

The Big 12 South in 2010 will see a changing of the guard as Texas will lose the winningest QB in NCAA history, assuming he gets by the rest of their weak schedule (news flash...he will).

Texas' fall from grace will not be that far, given the still dominant recruiting of Mack Brown. According to Scout.com, OU and UT are No. 1 and 2 in the 2010 recruiting class, respectively.

Other appearances in the top 25 are Oklahoma State at No. 10, Texas A&M at No. 13, and Texas Tech and No. 22.

The following slide show will feature not only the recruiting class for next year, but also feature some key returning players in ranking the six teams in the Big 12 South.
Texas kick returner Monroe charged with DWI

Texas freshman kick returner D.J. Monroe has been charged with drunken driving after a overnight arrest.

Monroe was arrested on Interstate 35 and taken to the Hays County jail, said Lt. Ler oy Opiela of the Hays County Sheriff's office. He was released Sunday morning after posting $3,000 bond.

Opiela said he did not have details of the arrest or who posted Monroe's bond.

A Texas spokesman said the team was aware of the arrest. Texas coach Mack Brown did not immediately issue a statement.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Texas Longhorns, Mack Brown
