The Good Ol' Nebraska Shows Up But Texas Tech Still Prevails

Joe Ganz and his Nebraska teammates showed up with a good gameplan for Texas Tech. The problem is teams don't always execute those plans fully.
Today, Nebraska did everything right in trying to upset Tech in Lubbock. Amazingly Texas Tech was able to beat them, even though it seemed like they rarely had the ball.
Nebraska wanted to hold the ball on offense and they did. They did a good job of being balanced between running and passing plays. When they threw it, Joe Ganz was the difference. I'm not sure if he can have a better game than he did today.
Ganz was 37-45 for 357 yards and two passing TD's. He also ran for a score. His only blemish was the interception in overtime that sealed the Red Raider win.
Texas Tech did a good job on offense when they had the ball. They scored on six of eight possessions. They just didn't have the ball as much as they usually do.
The usual suspects of Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree had good games. Crabtree was ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Mike Leach

Not Your Same Old Nebraska Heading to Texas Tech

There was a time when fans would fear the Nebraska Cornhuskers when they were coming to town. That hasn't been the case over the last few years. In the 1990's Texas Tech would have probably been a double digit underdog at home to Nebraska. Going into Saturday's game, Tech is a 21-point favorite.
Yes, things have changed.
Nebraska brings in the nations 82nd ranked defense to face the No. 2 overall offense of the Red Raiders. Please read the previous sentence again.
Is 21 points enough?
To make things even worse, Nebraska is 97th against the pass. Tech's offense? Oh, we all know how it has been the last few years under Mike Leach. Yeah, they're numero uno in throwing the ball in the air and having one of their own players catch it and run.
Graham Harrell is now the number one passer in Texas Tech history. Surprisingly, he didn't play the last time the two teams met in Lubbock in 2004. That game was won by Tech ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Mike Leach, Bo Pelini

Texas Tech-Kansas State: Graham Harrell Sets Record with Six TD Passes

The Texas Tech offense hasn't been running at full speed in 2008, according to Coach Mike Leach. It seems the team might be heading towards full speed after putting a beatdown on Kansas State, 58-28.
Graham Harrell threw for over 400 yards and six touchdown passes in a game that was over halfway through the second quarter. Three of those TDs went to Lyle Leong, who had his best game in his young Red Raider career.
Two more touchdown passes were placed in the hands of Michael Crabtree. Crabtree now has more touchdown receptions than any other receiver in Tech history. He also makes me love him more everyday. Kind of like a Buddy Holly song.
Harrell became the all-time leader in passing yards for Tech, speeding past Mike Leach's first QB star in Lubbock, Kliff Kingsbury. He should be up by quite a bit when it is over, as he still has over half of the season to go, along with a bowl game.
Crabtree had over 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns. ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Texas Longhorns, Mike Leach, Kansas State Wildcats, Nebraska Cornhuskers

Texas Tech Faces Road Test in Athletic Kansas State Team

 Introduction
Texas Tech enters Saturday’s road game against Kansas State eager to prove it belongs among the nation’s elite. It’s ironic that the first Big 12 game was played between these two teams in 1996, a game Kansas State won 21-14. This time, however, Texas Tech is undoubtedly the superior team.
Mike Leach and his staff have worked tirelessly over the last eight years to prove that Texas Tech is more than just a fun team to watch. The talent level at Texas Tech has increased each year, and expectations have risen even more rapidly.
Manhattan, Kan., is a tough place to play, and the Tech coaching staff realizes that. Tech’s only win at K-State came in 2004 when Danny Amendola returned a punt for a score and DE Adell Duckett intercepted a screen pass for another score. 35-25 was the final in that game.

Kansas State will lean heavily upon the arm and athletic ability of starting QB Josh Freeman. For the season Freeman has ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NCAA Football, Kansas State Wildcats, Texas Longhorns, Mike Leach
