10 NFL Jerseys I Would Want My Kids to Wear

In a day and age in which professional athletes are often depicted as criminals or over-greedy, grown up babies, I feel that the need for specific role models in sports is absolutely critical.

While the media often only highlights the negative aspect of off-field activity, there are plenty of players and coaches who spend a considerable amount of time off the field doing charity work, promoting foundations, going into the community, or creating a cause of their own.

Whenever I have kids, I want them to share my passion in sports, particularly football. If they don't, I will love them just the same, but for those growing with their kids right now, I will raise the question: Whose uniform do you let your child walk around wearing?

Being a Bronco fan, I will use myself as an example. Before the whole Jay Cutler fiasco in Denver, there is not a doubt in my mind that Cutler was the most loved athlete in the city of Denver.

Everybody had his jersey.

I had his jersey, and I bought a pink one for my ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Jay Cutler, Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson, Drew Brees, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson

NFL MVP Favorites Part One: The Overrated

This time of year, the chatter of who will likely take home the NFL's Most Valuable Player trophy begins to heat up.
By the end of the season, it has inevitably crescendoed into a raucous cacophony of "no, MY player's better!" and "your player's over-rated!" rants.
The funny thing is, by the time the award's actually given out, it's ironically an afterthought of sorts.
By that time, teams are deep in the playoff hunt. Home field advantage, sexy storylines and title games captivate more interest in the end.
At this juncture, however, the debate is in full swing with many intriguing twists and turns so far.
This is the first of a two-part list that breaks down all the usual suspects. The stars in today's slideshow are traditional favorites, yes.
But good numbers alone don't merit an MVP. The number one criteria of the award—"where would your team be WITHOUT you?"—bears much significance.
In addition, it should be noted that their inclusion in the "overrated" portion of the list does not ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, Drew Brees, Adrian Peterson, Tom Brady

Peter King: Titans RB Johnson aims to beat out Peterson

Forget their combined 8-10 record. Tennessee-Houston is worth the watch for a slew of reasons, including one RB who's got an edge on Adrian Peterson. SI.com's Peter King explains.

Chicago Bears: What Needs To Be Done To Fix The Future, Right Now!

The Chicago Bears go up this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles, who will be missing Brian Westbrook. The game is on Sunday Night Football... which means that despite the absence of Westbrook, I still do not feel bad chalking this one up as a loss.
In Jay Cutler's three previous prime time performances (Packers, Falcons, 49ers), he accumulated the following total numbers: 73/131 for a 55 percent completion rate, 884 yards, three TDs and 11 Ints.
Now that doesn't mean Jay is going to come out and bomb, but I still feel very confident that the Bears chances of winning are slim. Especially considering how the offensive line has played and how much the Eagles' defense enjoys blitzing.
So if the Bears do lose and the playoffs become an afterthought, there are several changes that Lovie Smith needs to make in order for the Bears to be better prepared for the following season.
Lets start on the offensive side:
First, move Juaquin Iglesias into the receiver rotation. I like the trio of Devin ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Chicago Bears, Derek Anderson, Kellen Davis, Adrian Peterson, Anthony Adams, Desmond Clark

NFL Top 10 Power Rankings Through Week 10

Week Ten of the NFL saw some changes made when the week was over.
After being cut by the Chiefs, Larry Johnson was recently signed by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals already have another castoff in Cedric Benson, who has energized his career in Cincinnati.
If Johnson follows the same route as Benson has, who had trouble with the Chicago Bears and has been trouble-free with the Bengals, Johnson too could find himself playing more and not criticized as much.
But, it's all up to Johnson's desire to change for the better.
Also, the first coaching change finally happened in 2009 with the firing of Buffalo Bills head coach Dick Jauron. Jauron never had success in Buffalo and the team was a mess this season at 3-6 with Terrell Owens, so management felt a change was needed.
Jauron will probably end up back as a defensive coordinator somewhere in the NFL, a spot where he should stay.
The top teams of the NFL took some tough losses and a couple teams who could have moved up didn't, while some ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, Drew Brees, Reggie Bush

Adrian Peterson is widely considered the best running back in the NFL. But Kerry J. Byrne makes a strong case that another No. 28, the Titans' Chris Johnson, has eclipsed the Vikings RB.
