Buffalo Bills Dreadful Midseason Injury Analysis

What seemed to be a promising year for the 2009-2010 Buffalo Bills has turned into nothing less than disaster, due to the unfathomable amounts of injuries occurring each week.
    Injuries on the Defensive Side
Ten of the 11 original opening day defensive starters for Buffalo have been injured at some point this year.
    Linebackers
MLB Paul Posluzny, a captain and leader of the Buffalo defense suffered an injury to his forearm, causing him to miss a couple of weeks. His replacement, Marcus Buggs, looked solid enough to hold down the fort until he was injured, and will now miss the remainder of the season.
OLB Kawika Mitchell, an explosive playmaker and another leader of Buffalo's solid linebacking core, was injured as well, and will also miss the remainder of the season.
OLB Keith Ellison, who leads Buffalo in tackles, was also recently injured, which required Buffalo to sign Chris Draft and try out Safety Bryan Scott at the position.
    Secondary
At the season's start, we ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Buffalo Bills

So Long, Frank Michael Reich

When your team is on a bye week, there is only so many things your idle mind can do. This idle mind was listening to So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright on my i-Pod. I saw a flash on the computer screen of the Bills vs Oilers playoff game, the greatest comeback in NFL history. With apologies to Simon and Garfunkel, the next thing I knew, I was plugging Frank Reich in to this song, which I will share with you on the following slides for your entertainment pleasure. Feel free to hum along to the So Long, Frank Llyod Wright tune.

Oh, and to Frank Reich and his family, nothing is wrong with Frank, as far as I know, so I apologize for any consternation caused. Come to think of it, he could be the QB coach for the Bills, but that is a different story altogether. It would probably be the cause for a whole different kind of anxiety as well.
The Top 10 Offensive Lowlights for 2009 Buffalo Bills

This slide show is dedicated to the Buffalo Bills offense for the 2009 season. For the first eight games of this year, the Bills offense have found new ways to set back modern football in the NFL by at least three decades.

This picture is Ryan Fitzpatrick getting sacked last week in the Houston game by rookie Brian Cushing. The offensive line has repeatedly allowed defenses to put constant pressure on the quarterback resulting in a concussion to Trent Edwards and many sacks.
Fly: T.O. says no to Mexico during bye week

Hey, didn't you used to be the Hideki Matsui that some said was all washed up earlier this season?
Terrell Owens is having a miserable season, but at least he isn't making his current quarterback miserable. He's still picking on the old one. Asked what he would be doing during the Bills' bye week, Owens replied, "I'm definitely not going to Mexico, not going to Cabo ," referencing Tony Romo's controversial trip to Mexico in 2007 with Jessica Simpson.
And the merchandising machine wastes no time cashing in on the Yankees' 27th World Series Champeenship: It paraded hoodies on Amazon bright and early Thursday . Oh yeah, there's the video , too.
Some Colorado football fans are using Facebook to call on fans to protest the coaching (yeah, that's you, Dan Hawkins) of the Buffaloes by wearing powder blue to Saturday's game against the Texas A&M Aggies. Why? Because powder blue was part of the team's uniforms when they were horrible in the early 1980s.
Texans RB Slaton may lose starting job to Moats

Steve Slaton became a key to Houston's offense as a rookie last year when he ran for a franchise-record 1,282 yards.

This season he's tied for the NFL lead in lost fumbles with five and his job as a starter is in jeopardy after Ryan Moats had a huge day filling in for him. Moats, a career backup, ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns after Slaton was benched in the first quarter of Houston's 31-10 win over the Bills.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Houston Texans, Steve Slaton, Ryan Moats, Buffalo Bills

Bills CB McGee to miss two weeks after surgery

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Bills coach Dick Jauron wasn't kidding when he wondered whether he'd have enough players available to practice during the team's bye week.

Buffalo Bills Mid-Season Analysis

Eight games down, eight games to go. We have now reached the halfway point of the season, and now with a convenient bye week at hand, we are primed to assess how the Buffalo Bills have performed so far in their 50th Anniversary season. With a 3-5 record on the books, and sitting alone at the bottom of the AFC East Division, the team will be heading in to their bye week vacation with the bitter taste of defeat and a second half collapse at home in dropping a game to the Houston Texans that they led for the first three quarters. Coaching This is Dick Jauron's team. Make no mistake about it. Dick Jauron is the guy that told Turk Schoenert that he was coming up with an offensive scheme that was too confusing and too complicated, so Turk was fired and booted off the team just before the season began. Too confusing for who exactly Coach Jauron? For you personally? As a former NFL safety for Detroit Lions back in the 1970's and a former Defensive Coordinator, it was probably a good thing ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Buffalo Bills, Trent Edwards, Jairus Byrd

For Buffalo Bills Fans: Where to Go From Here?

There's one positive remaining about the Buffalo Bills' season. It's Jairus Byrd, the rookie free safety that's recorded two interceptions in three consecutive seasons for the first time since 1960.
That's it. The offense is at it's lowest point in years, having a measly 18 first downs in two games. Yeah, they beat worse teams in Carolina and the New York Jets in consecutive games, but it was all for not.
Dick Jauron is still an inept offensive coach; he plays not to lose, yet in the process makes poor decisions that change the direction of games, like a fake punt that lost yards.
That decision didn't have that big effect on the game, because the Houston Texans were that much better than the Bills. All the Texans' offense had to do was weather three early turnovers and wear down an already tired Bills defense that plays well at times.
The secondary plays great; Byrd would've started in Week One if he didn't miss a lot of the offseason due to conflict with his school, the University of Oregon. ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Buffalo Bills, Jairus Byrd, Dick Jauron, Trent Edwards

Buffalo Bills Ex-Head Coaches Face Off in Monday Night Football

Was sitting down to watch the Monday Night Football game tonight as Atlanta Falcons were visiting the New Orleans Saints. As the game unfolded I kept hearing all of these names that previously were involved with the Buffalo Bills organization.
As I pondered the fate of these ex-Bills, I realized the irony of what was unfolding. Atlanta's offensive coordinator, Mike Mularkey, was going up against New Orleans' defensive coordinator, Gregg Williams, in the game tonight.
What was so ironic about that? Both of these coaches had previously been head coaches of the Buffalo Bills. That got me to wondering, have two coordinators ever faced off against each other that used to be the head coach for the same pro team?
I tried to google to find the answer, I tried to call that 1-866 number you see ads run on TV to find an answer, and I even pulled out my Magic Black Eight Ball. Nothing, nada, zip. I don't know the answer.
Then I started hearing the names of ex-Bills players: there was Jabrari Greer, ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints

New York Jets wide receivers Jerricho Cotchery, David Clowney and Brad Smith are listed as questionable but expected to play against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Cotchery, the team's leading receiver, was injured in practice three weeks ago. He played in the loss at Miami on Oct. 12, then sat out a loss to Buffalo and a win at Oakland.

Smith has also missed the last two games with a quadriceps injury, while Clowney has an injured ankle.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Jerricho Cotchery, David Clowney, Buffalo Bills

Aerial Showdown: Matt Schaub Vs. Buffalo Bills Pass Defense

Sorry I can't do the generic "game preview."
There are too many out there. How many can one possibly read leading up to a game?
My advice...read my Featured Columnist colleague Dan Van Wie's previews; they're good. He does a much better job hyping a game than I ever could.
I'm more of a numbers/matchup guy.
Anyhow, this week's most intriguing story comes from the rocket arm of Matt Schaub and the turnover-creating Bills defense.
Let's break down these two critical aspects of Sunday's game.
Matt Schaub is currently:
First in passing yards (2,074)
First in touchdown passes (16)
Third in total completions (163)

He's got weapons, too.
Andre Johnson is about as scary as they come in terms of wide receivers, and Owen Daniels, yes, Owen Daniels should be a household name if he's not already. He deserves the notoriety.
Andre Johnson is:
First in receiving yards (634)
First in targets (70)
T-third with nine receptions over 20 yards.
The guy looks like a linebacker but runs ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Buffalo Bills, Matt Schaub

Starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams will miss Buffalo's game Sunday against Houston because of a knee injury sustained in last week's win over Carolina.

The Bills will also be without starting right tackle Jonathan Scott (ankle), safety Donte Whitner (ankle), fullback Corey McIntyre (knee) and tight end Shawn Nelson (migraine/illness).

Safety Bryan Scott is doubtful with an ankle injury, while Chris Kelsay (back) and cornerback Terrence McGee (knee) are both probable.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Jonathan Scott, Donte Whitner, Corey McIntyre, Shawn Nelson
