In 1999, a young Peyton Manning took his Colts to Miami late in the season and fought an epic battle. The seesaw battle was finally decided when he led a game-winning drive that started with only 36 seconds left in the game. Colts 37, Dolphins 34. It was the first time Manning beat the Dolphins. The mantle was passed. Dan Marino's career was waning; Manning's career was blossoming. Fast-forward exactly 10 years and one day, and another young quarterback with a bundle of potential took the field in Miami against a future Hall of Fame quarterback by the name of Tom Brady. This time, though, the quarterback and the "W" both belonged to the Dolphins. MIAMI — Given the keys to the Dolphins' offense on Sunday, second-year quarterback Chad Henne drove them to victory. Not only did Henne steal the spotlight from New England quarterback Tom Brady, but Henne helped steal the game for the Dolphins. He engineered a 51-yard drive to set up the winning field goal. He completed a career-high 29 passes on a career-high 52 attempts for a career-high 335 yards. How well Henne plays down the stretch will go a long way toward determining whether the Dolphins (6-6) turn their precarious playoff hopes into reality. However, Henne was plenty good enough in Miami's pulsating 22-21 victory over the AFC East-leading Patriots (7-5). For the Dolphins, it was a positive sign that Henne has the moxie to deliver, not only in December but for seasons to come. The Miami Dolphins rebounded from their tough loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 12 with a one-point, come-from-behind victory against the AFC East-leading New England Patriots in Week 13. The Dolphins didn't get much pressure on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and shied away from the running game that has made them so productive, but were still able to come away with the win. At 6-6, the Dolphins are one game behind the Patriots in the AFC East. Suddenly, the AFC East is no longer a shoe-in for the New England Patriots. Once New England's third receiver, Sam Aiken, jumped into the air to catch Tom Brady's pass near mid-field, then got free of the corner-back and sprinted down the sideline for a 81 yard touchdown to give New England a 21-10 lead over the Miami Dolphins, it looked like the division was firmly in the hands of the Pats. Not so fast. Chad Henne's seven yard touchdown to Brian Hartline cut New England's lead to two, 21-19, and that was followed by an inept showing by the Patriots once daunting offense. New England's only decent drive of the fourth quarter resulted in an interception of Brady, by Vonte Davis in the end zone on a go-route intended for Randy Moss. Then, Henne and the Miami offense put together one hell of a clutch drive. Henne hit Devon Bees for 14 yards, Anthony Fasano for 13 more.
