Oakland Raiders Ready to Stand Up Against the Cincinnati Bengals

Note: All Quotes In This Article Are Fictional
The Oakland Raiders are a once proud franchise, which is to say that they have not yet been proud twice. But, notice that I said yet...because that is an important word. Keep it in mind for next season...maybe...which is another important word when you're discussing this team.
Why do I say that they are ready to stand up? Simple, because you can't sit down and play football. In German, it's actually called foosball, and I think I used to have a table called the same thing...but those were one legged soccer players with interconnected arms.
Kirk Morrison said earlier this week, "I'm ready to tackle some Bengals."
That's a good sign. We sure wouldn't be the same team if the defense just let people run right by them...for 100 yards a game...every game.
Nnmadi Asomugha said, "I'm ready to cover some Bengals."
That's an awesome statement because I would hate to see them leave Chad Johnson, or I mean Ochocinco, to be wide open in the endzone. ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, Michael Bush, Justin Fargas, Tom Cable, Mario Henderson

Bengals-Raiders: Bo Knows Raiders Have Dominated This Series

Bengals and Raiders fans: grab a five hour energy drink, your favorite fur coat, and an eye patch and get ready to relive the most exciting three games in series history.
(Writer's note: males are only allowed to wear fur coats if they are crazy, old, have dementia, or are near death, all of which describe Raiders' owner Al Davis, pictured below). And when I say get ready to relive the three most exciting games in history, I'm slightly exaggerating.
These two teams never play in exciting games against each other. It's like watching two blind people play tennis, only less fun.
However, after a week of looking, I think I've found three fun games. Fact to impress drunk people with: Bengals all-time leading scorer Jim Breech spent 13 of his 14 career NFL seasons in Cincinnati. The one that wasn't in Cincinnati: Breech's rookie year of 1979, which he spent with Oakland. All-Time Series: Raiders lead 17-8 in regular season (will be 17-9 after Sunday) and 2-0 in the playoffs. Lets ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Cincinnati Bengals, Oakland Raiders

Polamalu among Steelers who won't play at Chiefs

Steelers safety Troy Polamalu did not practice all week because of a left knee injury and will not play Sunday in Kansas City. He may miss the Nov. 29 game at Baltimore as well.

Polamalu sat out the Steelers' second through fifth games with a ligament tear, only to injure the same knee during an 18-12 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday.

Polamalu's latest injury is to a different ligament. He wore a heavy brace as he watched practice this week.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Troy Polamalu, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals-Raiders Preview: JaMarcus Russell Flushed in Oakland

Note: The quotes in this article are fictional.
With the AFC North well in hand after last Sunday's 18-12 win in Pittsburgh, the Bengals can turn their attention to more trivial things, like the Raiders.
"I think the Steelers are stunned that we've beaten them twice," says Carson Palmer. "I'm sure they didn't expect us to take them down at Heinz Field. But what's the best way to remove a 'line in the sand?' By 'sweeping' it away, of course.
"Marvin Lewis now has the kind of team he's always wanted, one that is defined by an attacking defense and an efficient, mistake-free offense. It took him awhile, but Marvin's finally been able to put his best defenders on the field instead of in the courtroom."
In Oakland's 16-10 loss to the Chiefs last week, JaMarcus Russell was a dismal 9-of-24 for 67 yards, an effort that got him benched , but not punched, by Tom Cable. Bruce Gradkowski took over at quarterback and was worse, throwing two interceptions.
"No. 2 was stinking up the joint," says ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Oakland Raiders, JaMarcus Russell, Cincinnati Bengals, Tom Cable, San Francisco 49ers

Ben Roethlisberger Blames Loss to Bengals on Weather, Fans

I did not wake up this morning with the intention of writing another post about the Bengals' victory over the Steelers, but the events of the day have changed my agenda.
Of course, I still hate the Steelers and would never balk at the opportunity to rip on them in some fashion, but I really was ready to move on from last week. The Ohio State-Michigan game is this weekend, and the Bengals will be in Oakland to take on the Raiders.
Speaking to reporters for the first time since Sunday, Ben Roethlisberger said , "I didn't feel great, my arm didn't feel good and that first drive, we connected a few times, went down the field, had to scramble. I kind of thought, 'OK, shut that funk off.' And then it never quite came around."
I am literally staring at the computer with a perplexed look on my face. Is he incapable of uttering a complete sentence?
Roethlisberger babbles on to say that something didn't feel right, referencing the warm weather and dejected crowd at Heinz Field. Santonio Holmes chimed ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Cincinnati Bengals, Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

Bengals-Raiders Preview: Cincy Looks to End Recent Struggles in Oakland

The 7-2 Cincinnati Bengals travel to the west coast Sunday to take on the 2-7 Oakland Raiders in pursuit of their sixth-straight road win.
While the Bengals have ridden their way to the top of the AFC North standings on a three-game winning streak, the Raiders have won once in their last seven games.
However, the Raiders recent success against the Bengals should have Cincinnati extra cautious heading into Sunday's match-up.
The Raiders have defeated the Bengals four straight games in Oakland and 13 of the last 14. Still, it's difficult to imagine Cincinnati struggling against Oakland considering how well they have performed this season, especially on defense.
The Bengals defense has been nothing short of outstanding in 2009. Through nine games, they are allowing just 16.3 points per game, with only the Indianapolis Colts ahead of them when it comes to best in the league. Their 25 sacks has them ranked fourth in the NFL with three other teams and they continue to find ways to apply pressure ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals

Cedric Benson Declares Himself Game-Time Decision for Sunday

Cincinnati Bengals starting running back Cedric Benson has gone against several reports , declaring that he has not been ruled out for this week's game due to a hip injury he sustained in Week 10.
Benson can tell us anything he wants, but considering the Bengals should be just fine with a RBBC against a horrible Oakland Raiders run defense, it'd be foolish for Cincinnati to rush their stud back to action before he's 100 percent.
Fantasy Perspective: NFL Soup is declaring Benson a "sit" call this week, as he's likely to share the load even if he does play and would be a strong bet to be done before halftime in a game that could get lopsided very quickly.
We like Bernard Scott to make the start, while Brian Leonard could steal some carries and is always a strong candidate to be active in the passing game, especially on third downs.
Newly signed former Chief Larry Johnson has said that he will play this Sunday, but since he doesn't have any idea what his role will be, you should play ( ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals, Fantasy Football

Big Ben takes blame for loss to Bengals (AP)

He didn't blame the wide receivers for running incorrect pass routes, even if one of them seemed to be singling him out. He didn't blame the special teams for allowing a third costly kickoff return touchdown in four games. He didn't argue with offensive coordinator Bruce Arians' decision to take over the play-calling during a hurry-up situation late in the game, when Ben...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Ben Roethlisberger, Bruce Arians, Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals Remember Bruce Gradkowski's Game-Winning Drive In '06

Despite making just 13 starts in his four-year career, Oakland Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski has recent success against the Cincinnati Bengals .
As a rookie in 2006, Gradkowski led the Bucs on a game-winning drive as he threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Michael Clayton with 34 seconds left in the 14-13 win over the Bengals.
At first, the play was ruled incomplete as Clayton appeared to have fumbled before crossing the goal line. However, the replay showed he had control of the ball while crossing the plain, sending the Bengals to their second loss of the season.
That season, the Bengals finished the season 8-8 and fell one-game short of a possible wild-card berth. While it's difficult to apply the "what if" card in the NFL, the Bengals and their fans knew how different their season could have been had Gradkowski not led that game-winning drive.
Prior to the game, the Bengals were 3-1 and just one game behind the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North. While there were a few games ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Cincinnati Bengals, Bruce Gradkowski, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Oakland Raiders

NFL Week 11 Picks: Steelers Vs Chiefs

The NFL Week 11 Picks for the Steelers-Chiefs game has been geared up. In last week's matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers were unable to pull out a win, and now they will be looking to regain their composure against the Chiefs.
During the Bengals game, Troy Polamalu was injured once again, and it appears he will be out for the game against Kansas City. However, the Steelers may not need Polamalu as the Chiefs defense is likely to be ineffective at stopping Ben Roethlisberger.
Online sports betting sites are looking to wager on the Steelers, as they are the -10(-110) point favorite against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are have +10(-110) point NFL betting odds.
In the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs are tied for third place with the Oakland Raiders, and neither of them have had good NFL betting odds this season. For those betting on the Steelers and hoping that they cover the spread, this is great news, as it looks like this trend will continue on.
