NFL Power Rating Picks are a peculiar little beast and for anyone that had success in Week 10 betting our perfect 4-0 plays on the Over/Under, we apologize in advance. You won’t find a single total to bet in this installment of the weekly plays based on our power rankings because, quite simply, nothing significant turned up. We wrote last week in this spot about bending numbers to make a game fit a system or profile, and recommended against it since a forcing a play usually generates the same results as going out to the bar ‘trying’ to pick up. It has to come naturally and this week, as much as our own bankrolls wanted more action on the totals, we are forced to stick with betting sides. Eric Mangini expects Josh Cribbs to play when the Cleveland Browns go against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Cribbs was strapped to a backboard and carted off the field after the last play of the Browns' 16-0 loss to Baltimore on Monday night. He was briefly hospitalized with a possible neck injury and concussion. Mangini says all of the measures taken with Cribbs were precautionary and that all the tests came back negative.

I wrote this article after extensive research. The list was compiled after looking at about 175 candidates. Some of the stats that I focused on in coming up with the list were rushing yards, yards per game, rushing touchdowns, yards per carry, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. After placing all the candidates in order based on stats I weighed each stat appropriately. For example, I feel that rushing yards are more important than receiving touchdowns, therefore they are weighed heavier in my rankings. After compiling the list based solely on stats I took other factors into account such as career length, whether injuries played a part, and when they played. Finally, I injected my own opinion into the list since after all, it is my list. The list will consist of fullbacks, tailbacks, halfbacks and anyone else you might consider a running back. It should be noted that this list is about players who handled the ball so you won't see great fullbacks that were strictly blockers on ...

The Detroit local media are pals and get along rather well, but even they find it hard to joke around as they wait to ask another round of questions to a 1-8 team. I recognized the usual faces. Thanksgiving is drawing closer, carrying with it fond memories of turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, and football. In a year where the NFL is commemorating 50 years of AFL football and force feeding us throwback jerseys of the sixties, the original AFL teams are missing. The New York Titans (Jets) and The Dallas Texans (Chiefs), played the first Thanksgiving game for the AFL. The Titans won the game 41-35. In fact, the New York Titans played in the first three Thanksgiving games for the AFL, winning all three. It's odd that while the NFL is celebrating the AFL, the third game on Thanksgiving will be the Giants vs. the Broncos. Detroit Lions Running Out of Ways to Lose

What else could possibly happen? Last Sunday, the Detroit Lions jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter against the Seattle Seahawks, and still managed to lose by 12 points. And the beatings go on. The Lions have been shut out, lost late leads, fallen short in fourth-quarter comebacks, lost because of offense, defense, and special teams. And that’s just this season. The only good news this season is that the team hasn’t lost by two after an unforced safety. Yet. But the Lions are about to play Minnesota, so who knows? For the first time in his NFL career, Matthew Stafford will get to play against an opponent for the second time. The Detroit Lions travel to Minnesota this Sunday for their second game against the Vikings this season. Stafford, like most rookie quarterbacks who see the field right away, has been through some growing pains this season. The difference between college and NFL defenses is astounding. But Sunday, Stafford will have the advantage of playing against a defense he has already seen once. In the first meeting between the two teams, Stafford looked good, particularly in the first half. He completed a touchdown pass to Calvin Johnson, and the Lions grabbed a 10-0 lead at halftime. Yet Detroit lost that game 27-13. Detroit Lions: You Can Win For Losing. Really.

It's pretty obvious by now isn't it? The Detroit Lions do not know how to win. We don't need to decipher the Da Vinci Code or the Kryptos structure at the CIA to figure that out. The team seems hell-bent on reminding us of the fact. But here's the problem fans have to deal with: One doesn't learn to win until learning to lose. Sounds dumb doesn't it? Who wants to learn to lose. Losing sucks, right? Why, yes. Yes, it does. It's just like learning to ride a bike. Of course, you are going to fall until you learn to ride. Failure, or fear of failure, always comes before success. And right now, the Lions are learning to lose. Most of you will say the Lions have been losing for 50 years. You're right, if you're referring to the franchise. But what people forget is the players are new. About 60 percent of the current roster are new faces. Before I'm dead, there are a number of things that I'd like to witness in my life, and most of them seem fairly attainable since I'm not greedy and have never asked for too much.
