Pass rush will be vital

Bears defensive linemen Tommie Harris and Anthony Adams jogged a couple of extra laps around Soldier Field during pregame warmups Sunday night. The Bears can only hope that means the pass rush will be off and running for them against quarterback Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles.

McNabb's experiences can be lesson for Cutler

Quarterback is a position of disputes and grudges. Quarterbacks are resented by teammates, scrutinized by coaches and idolized by fans. The number of players on a football field at any one time makes it a sport that traditionally can't be dominated by a single person. But on the rare occasion it happens, if it leads to championships, it's usually the quarterback that becomes a legend.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Chicago Bears, Donovan McNabb, Jay Cutler

Come To Think of It: Chicago Bears Key To Victory is To Pressure Donovan McNabb

The biggest difference between last week's tilt against the 49ers and this week's contest versus the Philadelphia Eagles is the quarterback play.
No, not Jay Cutler, although better ball protection for the Bears offense is a key. I'm talking about the difference between Alex Smith and Donovan McNabb.
For good QBs with time to throw the ball have picked apart the Bears defense. And McNabb is a much better QB than Smith at this point.
To avoid another Carson Palmer debacle, the Bears need to generate pressure on McNabb. With one less weapon to go to (Brian Westbrook is out with an injury), the defense needs to force bad decisions and off-balance throws from the Eagles QB.
That won't be easy.
Still, these teams seem strikingly similar. They both are desperate, coming off of two game losing streaks. Both have had trouble running the ball.
Despite 450 passing yards and two scores while tying his own franchise record with 35 completions, McNabb was unable to rally his team to victory against ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Donovan McNabb, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles Vs Chargers Preview: Monkeys On The Backs

Note: The quotes in this article are fictional.
Two of the best quarterbacks never to have won a Super Bowl face off in San Diego, as Donovan McNabb leads the Eagle against Philip Rivers and the Chargers. Both teams are 5-3 and in second in their respective divisions.
"I guess Donovan and I both have 'monkeys' on our backs," says Philip Rivers. "We're both looking to rid ourselves of animals. Obviously, McNabb's had more success leaving wildlife behind, because he's left 'yak' on the field on numerous occasions."
"Now, before information gets skewed, let's just clarify that Lawrence Taylor was the 'L.T.' arrested a few days ago for leaving the scene of an accident. It wasn't LaDainian Tomlinson. It couldn't have been. Heck, LaDainian almost always stops on contact."
Without the versatility of Brian Westbrook, the Eagles' offense was simply "pedestrian" in last week's 20-16 loss to the Cowboys. That would explain why David Akers "walked" on to the field for three field goals, as the offense ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Philadelphia Eagles, Donovan McNabb, San Diego Chargers, Super Bowl, Philip Rivers

Fourth Quarter Woes the Fault of Reid

Reid watches McNabb throw too often in the fourth. A lot is being made of the Eagles fourth quarter woes after their loss to the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, but too much of the blame is heading Donovan McNabb's way. While the quarterback does deserve some blame for an offense not being able to score, everyone is stopping one step too short. If you want to find the real culprit for the Eagles' offensive woes in the fourth quarter, look no further than Andy Reid. More specifically, take a look at his play-calling sheet. The problem with the Eagles in the fourth quarter is the lack of ball control. They don't focus on controlling the clock for the entire game, so they can't be expected to just turn it on when they need to. It's a mentality that the play-caller instills by committing to running the ball, and Reid never has or never will be that way. Reid's offense is focused around putting up so many points early that it becomes impossible for the opposing offense to come back. He ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Andy Reid, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Pro Bowl, Donovan McNabb

Ignorance of Eagles Fans Shines On Day After Loss

They say ignorance is bliss, but in the circle of Eagles fans it's become more of an epidemic. This city used to be populated with the most knowledgeable of fans who could back up their beliefs with real football insight and nothing but a love for the Eagles. Whether they agreed or disagreed with the coaches or management, someone could always look forward to a well-informed discussion with an Eagles fan. Unfortunately, those days are long gone. The city has become populated with people who wear midnight green with more of a mob mentality than an actual love for the game and for their team. Don't get me wrong, the passion is there, and it's there in abundance. Unfortunately the knowledge of the game has been completely thrown out the window. When the Eagles are winning, the city is ready to put Andy Reid in the Hall of Fame and already have their Super Bowl parties planned. The Eagles are the best team in the league, and there's no one who will tell them otherwise. However, lose a ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid, Donovan McNabb, Super Bowl

Cowboys Ground Eagles, Take First Place in NFC East

The Dallas Cowboys went into the stadium where their 2008-09 season ended so horribly and were able to quiet those demons and the Philadelphia fans, as they beat the Eagles 20-16 to take sole possession of first place in the NFC East.
Tony Romo had another stellar game, going 21-of-34 for 307 yards and one TD.
Romo did throw an interception, ending his three-game streak of not throwing a pick, but didn't let the interception affect his play. Romo was able to find some chemistry with receiver Roy Williams, and he also hit Miles Austin for the game winner.
Romo targeted Williams seven times, and they hooked up five times for 75 yards. Patrick Crayton had a 64-yard reception that set up a field goal, and with eight minutes left Romo hit Austin for a 49-yard TD pass to make the score 20-13.
The Eagles made a 52-yard field goal on their next drive but never saw the ball again.
The Cowboys' running game wasn't great, but it was effective, as Marion Barber had 50 yards on 12 carries.
Come to Think of It: Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks

Selecting the top QBs in football is a lot like picking your nose. A part of you is dying to do it, yet you hope that nobody sees you. For you just know that everyone isn't going to agree with you and see it your way. Still, this is the path that I've chosen and dammit, I am right! Unless I'm wrong, of course.

Either way, check this out and let me know what you think. Oh, and by the way, as for the picture, um, well, she is wearing a Tony Romo thong, come to think of it.
