Blitzing Brees can be a risky strategy

No team this season has discovered a way to stop quarterback Drew Brees , which is the challenge the Patriots face this week leading up to their Monday night showdown against the Saints. The most important step might be a strong pass rush.

As It Stands, Brett Favre Is NFL's MVP

If we remove all biases and opinions, I feel that we have finally come to the point in the 2009 NFL season , at least for now, that Brett Favre is without a doubt the front-runner for the MVP award.
You can hate him. You can love him. You can respect him, and you can be sick to death of hearing his name.
But one things is for certain—you can't ignore the season he and his team are having.
You can make arguments for his teammate, Adrian Peterson. You could easily say that Peyton Manning is deserving, that Drew Brees has been solid, and that because Favre isn't undefeated, he can't win the award over either of the aforementioned quarterbacks.
Hell, when it's all said and done, if Aaron Rodgers can will his Green Bay Packers into the playoffs, as well as keep his ridiculous numbers up, perhaps he will be the league's MVP .
Or if Chris Johnson can keep doing what he's done, maybe he's the guy.
Perhaps. Maybe. Let's wonder about it.
But it's Week 12. This is right now. I'm talking ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings, Drew Brees

Tampa Bay Bucs- New Orleans Saints: Saints Get a Freebie, Blast Bucs

Sooner or later it was going to happen. It's happened to Drew Brees. It's happened to Peyton Manning. It's been happening to Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez, and Matt Stafford.
Josh Freeman had a horrible Sunday, accounting for four turnovers (three interceptions) in the Saints' 38-7 demolition of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Freeman was inaccurate for the majority of the ballgame, missing several open receivers and throwing off the mark that led to costly turnovers—something you just can't do and hope to upset one of the best teams in the NFL.
The fumble bug raised its ugly head again for Josh, as instead of throwing the ball away or at least tucking it away, Freeman was hit from behind and fumbled for the sixth time in three games, setting up a third quarter New Orleans score that all but erased any thoughts the Bucs had of pulling off the upset.
It wasn't all on Freeman. In fact, Freeman gave the Bucs an early lead, leading them on an impressive 95-yard opening drive that culminated with ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Josh Freeman, Drew Brees

New Orleans a Perfect 10: Saints Sink Buccaneers, 38-7

No Sedrick Ellis.
No Reggie Bush.
Both starting corners out.
No problem.
Tampa Bay took the ball 95 yards down the field and scored a touchdown on their first drive.
They got just 124 yards and were shut out the rest of the game.
The New Orleans Saints scored the final five touchdowns of the game in a 38-7 rout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints forced four turnovers and, even more importantly, committed none of their own.
New Orleans, prior to Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, had committed 13 turnovers in the past four games—seven alone by Drew Brees.
Brees was an efficient 19 of 29 passing for 187 yards and three touchdowns.
New Orleans held Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman to 17 of 33 passing and only 126 yards.

The Offensive line : For the first time in several weeks, Brees was not sacked. The line also paved the way for Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell to combine for 167 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.

Drew Brees: Putting Himself Right With The Best In the Business

When you think of top tier quarterbacks, you automatically talk about Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. However, over the past couple of seasons and especially this year, Drew Brees has quietly joined the duo at the top of the NFL.
Last year, Brees played for a team that didn't have too much going for it. They were 28th in rushing yards and 26th in scoring defense. They played in a tough NFC South with Carolina and Atlanta, but the lone bright spot was the passing offense of the New Orleans Saints.
Brees was magnificent, throwing for 5,069 yards and 34 touchdowns. It is well known that I believe that Brees should have been league MVP.
After all, when you compare him to the league MVP, he did thrown for 1,067 more yards, 0.8 more yards per attempt, seven more touchdowns, 26 more passes of 20 or more yards, and over twice as many passes of 40 or more yards (16 to 7).
Not to mention that Brees was playing on a worse team and in a tougher division than Peyton Manning was.
NFL MVP Favorites Part One: The Overrated

In addition, it should be noted that their inclusion in the "overrated" portion of the list does not ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, Drew Brees, Adrian Peterson, Tom Brady

NFL Top 10 Power Rankings Through Week 10

Week Ten of the NFL saw some changes made when the week was over.
After being cut by the Chiefs, Larry Johnson was recently signed by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals already have another castoff in Cedric Benson, who has energized his career in Cincinnati.
