Steelers Notebook: Marvel Smith has surgery; Big Ben out

The Steelers are losing players at an alarming rate, some for longer than others. One week after they lost Pro Bowl running back Willie Parker for the season, left tackle Marvel Smith had back surgery yesterday and may not play again this season. ...

If This Were 2006, We'd Be Thrilled

"You call that a goatee?" The injury news isn't getting any better for the Steelers, but at least the team is reducing the chances that it'll get worse on Sunday by starting Charlie Batch in lieu of Ben Roethlisberger and his sprained ankle on Sunday in Baltimore. Batch has only attempted five passes this season, seeing the most action in mop up time in the first game against the Ravens. ...

Low Five For the Baltimore Ravens

But the look would only feel good to Ravens fans who have felt less than good throughout the team’s 5-11 campaign. They were able to hang on against the division winning Steelers for a 27-21 home victory, and conclude the season with some respectability outside of almost defeating the New England Patriots.

Previous Reports to the Contrary, Brian Billick's Job May Not Be Secure

Brian Billick finally got the monkey off his back and won a game yesterday. The 27-21 victory against the Steelers would seem to bolster the earlier reports that Raven ownership wasn't looking to change coaches during the offseason. It's important to note that those reports all came via sources, however, not straight from the mouth of the only horse that matters, owner Steve Bisciotti

Monday Morning Chrysler New Yorker

Fantastic. That game was so fun to watch. We did everything right, everyone looked sharp, Phil Simms wasn't an idiot, etc. No more sarcasm from me. I promise. Now, I'm always excited for Steelers games, and never want to see the team lose. However, ...

Steelers/Ravens Road Trip Report

Quite the downer yesterday in Ravensland. My son and I attended the Steelers/Ravens tilt in Baltimore on Sunday. Of course, hindsight being 20/20, it really turned out to be a meaningless game for the Steelers. I’d have much rather have attended a game there that actually meant something.

Even though the Steelers didn't really show up, and even though the Ravens nearly blew a 20-point fourth-quarter lead, it was still nice to get a win today. And what better way to end a nine-game losing streak and cap a 5-11 season than with a win ...
