The Houston Texans released linebacker Rosevelt Colvin. Colvin, formerly of the New England Patriots, had signed with the Texans as a free agent in the offseason. The Texans signed him to be a pass-rushing defensive end but felt, after seeing him in training camp and the preseason, he wasn't going to be effective in that role. For the first time since injuring his neck and spine last week, Texans receiver Harry Williams has walked by himself. Houston television station KRIV reports that Williams walked by himself Thursday morning at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. He suffered a cracked vertebrate and severe ligament damage in his neck Aug. 22 during a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. Williams told the station, "I started walking today.

Houston Texans receiver Harry Williams fractured a vertebra Friday night and is facing spinal surgery after being hit in the head during a collision with a teammate. Williams temporarily lost movement in his arms and legs but later "regained almost normal neurologic function" after being taken from the field on a stretcher and hospitalized, Texans team physician Dr. Walter Lowe said in a statement. Williams was expected to have surgery this weekend to fuse two vertebrae.

Houston Texans receiver Harry Williams was taken off the field on a stretcher Friday night after being hit in the head in a collision with a teammate. He was trying to make a tackle on a kickoff return by the Dallas Cowboys. Williams was face down on the field when the play ended. Medical personnel immediately called for a stretcher and the game was delayed for about 10 minutes while they tended to Williams. The extent of Williams' injury wasn't immediately known.

Could Marques Colston be a future Hall of Famer? His stats say yes. In his two years of playing in the NFL, the former Hofstra receiver has caught 168 passes for 2,240 yards and 19 touchdowns—more receptions than any other NFL player in history over their first two seasons. Colston went from seventh-round afterthought to No. 1 receiver coming off his rookie year, in which he caught 70 passes for 1,038 yards and eight touchdowns over just 14 games. With the departure of Joe Horn for Atlanta, the dependable Colston was put at the top of the depth chart before the 2007-08 season. Even though the Saints were a disappointment last year, Colston still caught 98 passes for 1,202 yards and 11 touchdowns while playing in all 16 games. This year, Colston looks as good as ever with a one-handed touchdown catch against the Houston Texans last week in the Saints' second preseason game, the only one that he's played in because of injuries. Houston Texans fullback Jameel Cook was arrested and charged with marijuana possession Wednesday. A Fort Bend County sheriff's deputy stopped Cook at about 7:30 p.m. because his 2007 Mercedes sedan had no front license plate or registration sticker, sheriff's department spokeswoman Terriann Carlson said Thursday. He's free on a $500 bond after authorities said he had about two grams of marijuana, no valid Texas driver's license and no proof of liability insurance.
