But I've decided to take a moment out of my vacation (and NCAA '09) to continue my fantasy football preview on the Texans. You're welcome. The former Tennessee star signed an $18.9 million dollar contract with $13 million in guaranteed money. Jerod Mayo's salary is a slight improvement over last year's 10th pick, Amobi Okoye of the Houston Texans. Okoye received $15 million, with $12 million in guaranteed.
Texans expecting nothing less than playoffs in 2008 | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

For the first time in team history, no one laughed at the Texans when they reported to training camp talking about the playoffs. The Texans are 32-64 in their first six seasons, including 14-18 under coach Gary Kubiak. But last season's 8-8 record and changes made to the roster in the offseason have bolstered the players' confidence and elevated their excitement level. “It's playoffs or bust,” ...

ESPN.com - NFL Nation - Blog found this 22 hours ago on www.chron.com [link]

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Houston Texans

From Colt Homer over at Naptown's Finest :

But I could see Gray passing Sorgi before the Hall of Fame Game. Gray was waived by the Texans for not picking up the system quick enough. That could be a problem since the Colts have a much more complicated system than the Texans.
Lorenzen is just a camp body. And a big one at that.

Not a good sign. Over Gary Kubiak's last two seasons, the Texans have tried to piece together a running game using players that no other team really wanted. They haven't had much of a choice given all the needs of the team and limited salary cap money.

The Texans enter their third training camp under Gary Kubiak with one goal - to reach the playoffs for the first time. Last season, the Texans finished with a franchise-best 8-8 record playing in the AFC South, the NFL's toughest division based on regular-season records.
