The Rams face an important decision this offseason
in whether or not to cut the face of
the franchise, Isaac Bruce, who's due a big salary in 2008. Would this be a good move on the Rams' part or just the latest in a series of dumb and debilitating personnel decisions that have crippled the team?

John Murphy of Yahoo! Sports breaks down the
49ers and their off-season. Injuries have plagued Alex Smith,
Darrell Jackson, and Frank Gore. Should the team go get a new wide receiver? Maybe a veteran like Isaac Bruce or Chad Johnson? What are the steps the team needs to take to make it to the next level?
Jerry Rice has given the go-ahead for Isaac
Bruce to wear his No. 80 with the 49ers.
The club has not issued No. 80 since Rice's final season with 49ers in 2000, though it's not officially retired. Rice, speaking on his SIRIUS NFL Radio show, "Late ...
Upon signing with the 49ers last week, Isaac
Bruce said he didn't know what he'd do after
14 years of wearing No. 80 with the Rams. Jerry Rice, the permanent rights-holder with the 49ers, said he'd share it. "I have always respected Isaac ...
Michael Robinson signs an extension with the 49ers.
Isaac Bruce will not wear Jerry Rice's #80.
Six games, and six losses, later, it's needless
to say that the only thing the Rams are
battling for is the first overall draft pick. And at least one of the reasons is injuries.
Jerry Rice said Isaac Bruce can wear #80.
But should the 49ers allow this to happen?
The 49ers have released wide receiver Darrell Jackson.
With the recent signing of Bryant Johnson, this leaves
the team with Arnaz Battle, Isaac Bruce, Ashley Lelie, and Jason Hill to compete for the starting jobs. This looks like enough for the team not to pursue a possible wide receiver in the draft. But now, with Jackson gone, the Niners are trying to figure out what's the next step.
Some 49ers number changes. Isaac Bruce to #88,
Bryant Johnson to #82. Thomas Clayton, Joe Cohen, and
Dominique Zeigler are changing numbers too!

One of the questions that came up with
the 49ers signing Isaac Bruce was what number he’d
wear, since his entire 14-year career has been in No. 80 but that number in San Francisco belongs now and forever to Jerry Rice. Bruce said on a conference ...
As sports fans, things like the number on
an athlete's chest probably mean way more to us
than they do to athletes themselves. It's our duty to obsess over things like that. The NFL's ability to make money depends on it. The world is not going to stop spinning if Isaac Bruce wears Jerry Rice's #80. The legacy of Jerry Rice will not be tainted, no one's #80 Rice jersey becomes obsolete, and ...
