In the galaxy where Josh McDaniel, Kevin Gilbride, Jason Garrett, Mike Mularkey, Dan Henning, Cam Cameron and Todd Haley have shined, it has been easy to gaze beyond Mike Heimerdinger.

Shanahan Out, Where Do We Go From Here?

One week ago, Dec. 30, 2008, a decision was made to change the Denver Broncos organization for the future, and Mike Shanahan was out as head coach.
It was something that some fans were clamoring for, while at the same time, many fans were blindsided by the decision. It was owner Pat Bowlen who proclaimed Shanahan to be "Head Coach for life" only a short time before, and now he has been deposed.
Out of this questions still remain, where does the team go from here? How does this affect the development of a young offense that ranked No. 2 in yards per game and No. 3 in passing?
Will the atrocious defense get a make-over, or will it stay the same? The problem is, there is no way to know yet how this will change the direction and structure of the team, all that can be done for now is to speculate the replacement and how they will implement their will onto the Denver Broncos.
The only certain thing is that the Denver Broncos are easily the premiere head ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Mike Shanahan, Denver Broncos, Josh McDaniels, Steve Spagnuolo, Pat Bowlen, Jason Garrett

FIVE IDEAS FOR SUCCESS IN DALLAS, TEXAS

  1. Phillips Must Go.
Wade Phillips is not the answer to the Cowboy's head coaching job...now, or in the future.
He is an able defensive coordinator, especially when working in a staff where he submits defensive schemes to a head coach.
His motivational skills have created a team full of "servant mummies". The lack of intensity that the players possess reflects directly upon the head coach's ability to instill that intensity in them.
Wade Phillips cannot do this. I don't see this ability improving any time soon.
  2. Jerry Jones Should Own...Period.
As much as Wade Phillips is not the answer to the Cowboys head coach question, neither is Jerry Jones.
JJ is one of the shrewdest business men in the NFL to be sure. But his "wannabe" obsession with a hands-on approach to running the team has been a stumbling block to every head coach hired under Jones' ownership.
If JJ isn't willing to let his staff make the coaching decisions, without interference, then what does this say ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Dallas Cowboys, Wade Phillips, Jerry Jones, Jason Garrett

10 Resolutions for the Dallas Cowboys' New Year

Ah, a New Year is upon us. Unfortunately for the Dallas Cowboys, a new season is upon us as well.

The Cowboys were the victims of a 44-6 thrashing at the hand of the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday that officially eliminated them from the NFL playoffs.

As a result of that loss, it is now time to move on, make a few changes, and start fresh next season. And is there a better time to start fresh than the New Year?

I was lucky enough to visit with a few of the Cowboys' players and coaches (and even a certain media member), and my conversations with all of them shared one common theme: New Years Resolutions.

In the following slides, you will find the New Years Resolutions of 10 different people associated with the Dallas Cowboys. All of them are excited about the opportunities that present themselves in 2009!

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo, Terence Newman, Jason Garrett, Terrell Owens, Wade Phillips

The Most Talented Group Of 'Boys Does Not Make a Team: The 2008 Dallas Cowboys

Tony Romo, Terrell Owens, Roy Williams, Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson, Marion Barber, Zach Thomas, DeMarcus Ware, and Terrance Newman.
Wade Phillips and Jason Garret.
Jerry Jones.
The list of personalities in this organization is incredible. The bankroll is immense. The expectations are sky-high. The drama rivals that of a weekday afternoon soap opera.
All of that equals to nothing. Nine wins and an early trip home for one of the most disappointing teams in recent NFL history.
The 2008 Dallas Cowboys were the sexy pick entering this year. Everyone was looking for an easy Super Bowl favorite, and on paper, the Cowboys were it.
Unfortunately the talent on paper does not always translate to the field.
It's no secret that Jerry Jones will do all he can to get big names down to Dallas, no matter their past or current situations.
