Lots of Question Marks For Lots of Teams

Here's what strikes me most about this preseason: Just about all the presumed top teams in the league will enter the season with a major question mark. Start with the two Super Bowl teams: The Giants traded tight end Jeremy Shockey before training camp, lost defensive end Osi Umenyiora to a season-ending knee injury suffered during a preseason game and failed to lure Michael Strahan out of retirement to replace him. The Patriots haven't...Please click on the title to continue reading this entry.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Super Bowl, Jeremy Shockey, Osi Umenyiora, Michael Strahan

Jeremy Shockey, Down in the Bayou

I almost still cannot believe the Saints' were able to acquire Jeremy Shockey this offseason. Even after all the whispers and rumors that the New Orleans Saints' were trying to get Shockey before this years draft; the Giants were adamant that he was not for sale.
The day finally came, and it was announced that Jeremy Shockey was traded to the Saints.
Most would say that the Saints' did not need another big-name playmaker on offense, and that the defense is what needed to be addressed. If you look at all the moves the Saints made this offseason, they concentrated on defense.
First, obtaining Jonathan Vilma via trade with the New York Jets. Then Sedrick Ellis and Tracy Porter through the draft, and Bobby McCray, Aaron Glenn, and Randall Gay through free agency.
The Saints', on paper, made some great moves to shore-up one of the worst defenses in the league from last year.
So why bring in a loudmouth, problem-child like Shockey to a class-act team like the Saints? Especially when they already ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Jeremy Shockey, New Orleans Saints

Mickey Loomis' List of Things To Do

Trade Reggie Bush, ASAP. Try to get a good linebacker or defensive back before his value runs out.
Cut Jason David, ASAP. I believe that a trade is impossible after the NFL watched him get burned over and over again last year.
Put Charles Grant on "probation." If he doesn't perform like the high-paid player that he is by the end of this season, trade him or cut him.
Keep Marques Colston at all costs.
Try to make Jeremy Shockey a team-oriented player.

No Shockey, Saints Win 13-0

Many Saints' fans were hoping to see Jeremy Shockey (above) make a few good plays Saturday night against the Bengals, but they ended up seeing him on the sideline in street clothes. Just before the game, it was announced that the former Giants tight end wouldn't be playing in the game.
Even without Shockey, the offense seemed to be playing just fine, well, at least the passing part. Duece McAllister rushed 6 times for nine yards, Reggie Bush rushed two times for six yards, Pierre Thomas rushed five times for 46 yards, and Aaron Stecker rushed six times for 29 yards. The late start seemed to be attributed to the insufficient run blocking.
On the passing side side of the offense, Drew Brees completed 14 out of 22 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown, Mark Brunnell completed two of four passes for 19 yards, and Tyler Palko completed 11 of 16 passes for 113 yards and a interception.
Lance Moore had a very active night, catching four passes for 79 yards. Moore seemed be inspired to ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati Bengals, Jeremy Shockey
