A league source tells us that Colts coach
Tony Dungy will step down, and that assistant head
coach/quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell will take the reins. More to come.
Colts head coach Tony Dungy denied an Internet
report on Profootballtalk.com that he has decided he will
step down and be succeeded by assistant Jim Caldwell, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Wednesday.

been widely established that Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks coach and
assistant head coach Jim Caldwell is going to be the next head coach of the Colts. The only question remaining is whether that will happen with Tony Dungy retiring this week, or whether Dungy will stick around another year and Caldwell will take over in 2009.
Indianapolis head coach Tony Dungy will return to
the helm of the Colts for the 2008 season,
reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter. The Colts have called a press conference for 4:30 p.m. ET today that will include Dungy, owner Jim Irsay, general manager Bill Polian and assistant head coach Jim Caldwell.
The Washington Redskins are planning to speak to
Seattle Seahawks assistant Jim Mora and Indianapolis Colts assistants
Jim Caldwell and Ron Meeks about their head coaching vacancy. Mora went 27-23 over three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, including an appearance in the NFC championship at the end of the 2004 season, before he was fired a year ago.

Caldwell to a multi-year contract that will take into
