This is just beyond crazy. Snyder strung Williams
along through four interviews, only for Jim Fassel's name
to appear out of nowhere as if he was a surprise villain in the Royal Rumble. Al Saunders actually did a decent job with the Redskins offense when you consider the injuries to Santana Moss, Antwaan Randle-El, and most importantly Jason Campbell.

Steve Spagnuolo was not offered the Redskins head
coach job. He either: preferred the fat new contract
offered by the Giants; or, he was a year away from head coach material. Redskins writer Anthony Brown wonders if Spags was the best fit for the Skins and says this may not be ideal for Jim Fassel, either.

If Redskins owner Dan Snyder looked at last
night's Super Bowl XLII as a final audition for
Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, it's bad news for Jim Fassel, Ron Meeks and Steve Mariucci. Spagnuolo, whom the Redskins are expected to interview tomorrow to replace coach Joe Gibbs.
