Can anyone explain to me why Kyle Orton didn’t play more than 2 series? It’s not as if he couldn’t use the work. Do we really need to see Rex Grossman? I’m pretty certain we know what he can do. Plus the Bears have a slew of new receivers: Lloyd, Booker, Kellen Davis and Bennett.

Carlson probably doesn’t get enough credit for his receiving ability; he just may be the best receiver in the class. He’s also a powerful blocker. As the complete Tight End, Carlson probably deserves to go in round one, but teams are wary of Tight Ends ever since Vernon Davis got taken with the sixth pick and hasn’t produced.

Bears select defensive end Ervin Baldwin of Michigan State with a seventh-round pick (No. 208 overall) in NFL draft. In third round, Bears take Vanderbilt WR Earl Bennett and Arkansas DT Marcus Harrison. In fourth round, they get LSU safety Craig Steltz. In fifth round, they take Nebraska CB Zack Bowman and tight end Kellen Davis of Michigan State.

Now that the Chicago Bears have chosen Kyle Orton as their quarterback, they must determine who will be catching his passes. Brandon Lloyd leads all Bears wideouts with 5 catches in the preseason, and his 56 yards are second on the team to tight end Kellen Davis' 80 (on 4 catches). But Lloyd isn't taking anything for granted as he prepares for Thursday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers.
