Marvin Lewis and Mike Brown Need To Be Reported to the Jerk Line

Bungled
Call the Jerk Line on Lewis and Brown
By Paul Bessire
Aug. 19, 2008
Someone should call the Cincinnati Bengals' Jerk Line on Marvin Lewis and Mike Brown.
There is a theory that believes that, in every small organization, there are one or two guys who just "get it." For the Cincinnati Bengals, the head coach and owner are definitely not those guys.
And frankly, the team may be one of the organizations that holds the average down with no guys who "get it." One would assume that anyone who is at all in a position of influence and "gets it," would have been able to talk Lewis and Brown out of this one.
In a move that reeks of blatant desperation, a pure lack of any common sense, and a gross misunderstanding of what it means to run a football team, let alone any organization, the Bengals brought back the much-maligned and once-released wide receiver Chris Henry.
Henry, who was forced to miss eight games last season due to poor (and repeatedly so) off-field conduct as part of NFL ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Marvin Lewis, Mike Brown, Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals and Chris Henry Deserver Each Other

That's right ladies and gentlemen, he's back!
The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed troubled wide receiver Chris Henry on Tuesday. And not a "just for now" contract either, but reportedly a two-year deal.
It was only this past April that Henry was cut by the team following Henry's fifth arrest since being drafted in 2005.
Bengals president Mike Brown said at the time of his release that, "His conduct can no longer be tolerated, the Bengals tried for an extended period of time to support Chris and his potentially bright career. We had hoped to guide him toward an appropriate standard of personal responsibility that this community would support and that would allow him to play in the NFL. ... But those efforts end today, as we move on with what is best for our team."
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis had this to say at the team's annual preseason luncheon on July 22 when asked about the possibility of the team re-signing Henry: "I'm not interested, I don't think it would be productive for our ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Cincinnati Bengals, Chris Henry, Marvin Lewis

Coach Marvin Lewis said at an evening news conference that Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown made the decision to give wide receiver Chris Henry another chance with the team. "I obviously know that at the end of the day, that the owner has the final say-so on whether or not he wants to give a guy an opportunity or not," Lewis said, according to the Associated Press. "Mike has wanted to give Chris this...Please click on the title to continue reading this entry.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Cincinnati Bengals, Chris Henry, Marvin Lewis, Mike Brown

Shoulder Injury Adds to Drama For C. Johnson, Bengals

Wide receiver Chad Johnson, after an offseason of lobbying to be traded by the Cincinnati Bengals and a training camp marred by a return from ankle surgery, hurt his left shoulder during Sunday night's preseason game against the Detroit Lions. Coach Marvin Lewis said during his postgame news conference that Johnson should be ready for the start of the regular season. But that was less than a certainty. Tests found no breaks, Lewis said....Please click on the title to continue reading this entry.

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NFL, Cincinnati Bengals, Chad Johnson, Detroit Lions, Marvin Lewis

Several weeks after coach Marvin Lewis emphatically closed the door on the Bengals re-signing Chris Henry, it now appears Cincinnati is open to the possibility of a reunion with the troubled wide receiver.
