ESPN's Chris Mortenson reported this morning on Sunday
NFL Countdown that recently signed Tennessee Titans wide receiver
Mike Williams weighed in at 271 pounds. This is the same Mike Williams that was selected No. 10 in the 2005 draft by the Detroit Lions and was chastized by former head coach Steve Mariucci and current head coach Rod Marinelli for being out of shape and lazy.

As much as I love sports, there are
some things I just don't understand. Some of the
topics that don't make sense to me are the big ones such as why you need a gun at a strip club or why you have to ALLEGEDLY kill dogs. These are moral, cultural, or personal issues. But right now, a story out of Oakland brings back one of my biggest sport pet peeves.

Calvin Johnson didn't catch a touchdown pass in
the first exhibition game, but one Lions first-round pick
did. Ex-Lion Mike Williams caught a three-yard touchdown pass and a 14-yard pass on a third down in the Raiders 27-23 victory over Arizona on Saturday night.

If ever there was reason to get excited
about a Detroit Lions football season it's Calvin Johnson.
Sure, I know we've been excited once or twice before; Charles Rogers, Joey, Mike Williams and so on. However, I can safely say that I am more than confident this thing won't end in disaster. And these clips should give Lions fans more than enough reason to not lose sight of the optimism.
