The Web's most popular Mike Williams news, videos, and blogs archive.
ESPN's Chris Mortenson reported this morning on Sunday
NFL Countdown that recently signed Tennessee Titans wide receiver
Mike Williams weighed in at 271 pounds. This is the same Mike Williams that was selected No. 10 in the 2005 draft by the Detroit Lions and was chastized by former head coach Steve Mariucci and current head coach Rod Marinelli for being out of shape and lazy.
The world of professional sports is not everything
it seems. One minute it's fast cars and fast
women, the next it's paparazzi, illegitimate children, and pesky bloggers. It's not always all it's cracked up to be. Day after day, we hear stories about ...
There's only one man that can turn around
the fortunes of the Syracuse football team - and
that man is Dennis Quaid.
Former Detroit Lions 1st round bust, wide receiver
Mike Williams, has been cut by the Oakland Raiders;
most likely ending his NFL career.
By Terry McCormick, tmccormick@nashvillecitypaper.com Mike Williams can admit
it now _ the year of football he missed
in 2004 when he unsuccessfully applied for the NFL Draft as a sophomore took its toll on his pro career. Williams and former Ohio ...
It takes a keen eye, but our crack
staff at HHR believes we have spotted Williams relaxing
outside of the Detroit Civic Center in a video for the T-Baby rap hit "It's So Cold in the D[etroit]."
Via Gregg Rosenthal's indispensable Pancakes blog , is
this nugget on Mike Williams, the offensive tackle trying
to make it as an NFL wide receiver: ... Williams has snagged a first-down reception under tight coverage from Fabian Washington, who was draped all over Williams at the time of the catch. It's been a scene replayed several times during camp.
The pressure in the final weeks before the
draft is on Lions president Matt Millen, who has
demonstrated on numerous occasions he is not up to the task. Millen knows Calvin Johnson is the best player in the draft, but how could he take another wide receiver with his first pick after doing that in three of the past four years (Charles Rogers in 2003, Roy Williams in ’04 and Mike Williams in ...
As much as I love sports, there are
some things I just don't understand. Some of the
topics that don't make sense to me are the big ones such as why you need a gun at a strip club or why you have to ALLEGEDLY kill dogs. These are moral, cultural, or personal issues. But right now, a story out of Oakland brings back one of my biggest sport pet peeves.
Calvin Johnson didn't catch a touchdown pass in
the first exhibition game, but one Lions first-round pick
did. Ex-Lion Mike Williams caught a three-yard touchdown pass and a 14-yard pass on a third down in the Raiders 27-23 victory over Arizona on Saturday night.
If ever there was reason to get excited
about a Detroit Lions football season it's Calvin Johnson.
Sure, I know we've been excited once or twice before; Charles Rogers, Joey, Mike Williams and so on. However, I can safely say that I am more than confident this thing won't end in disaster. And these clips should give Lions fans more than enough reason to not lose sight of the optimism.
Frank Ordoñez/The Post-StandardMike Williams caught 14 career touchdown
passes in two seasons including this one his freshman
year at West Virginia. Syracuse, NY -- Syracuse University junior wide receiver Mike Williams of Buffalo has been ...
If I told you there was information about
how a student who was caught cheating and got
kicked out of school could get back in, would that be something you're interested in? Well that information is now out there and kudos to Post Standard reporter Donnie Webb for providing SU fans with the answer .
I just got off the phone with Amy
Kremenek, the public relations leader at Onondaga County Community
College, and she definitively said Mike Williams is not enrolled there. The semester started yesterday, and the registration deadline has already ...
So much for Mike Williams making the most
of a third opportunity. The Titans released him Thursday,
adding another disappointing chapter to the once-heralded receiver's NFL career. It was a combination of things we weren't getting from him. There ...
You'd think Matt Millen would give Lions fan
Mike Lazzara the VIP treatment after he went off
on Mike Williams during practice yesterday. However he's too stupid to see the scapegoat in front of him even though it's gnawing on his balls. Lazzara was tossed out of practice after heckling Williams and FB Jerome Felton . He yelled at Williams about taking plays off several times until Williams ...
McCown has asked to be traded because he
doesn't see an opportunity behind starter Jon Kitna, who
took every snap in 2006 and has been named the starter for 2007 by coach Rod Marinelli.
Detroit Lions. Look, if Matt Millen hadn't taken
a wide receiver in four of the past five
drafts, Calvin Johnson would've been a great pick. But he did. So it's not. Drew Stanton had trouble throwing spirals at his Pro Day, and I don't know about you, but shouldn't that be an NFL quarterback prerequisite? Oh, and Detroit only finagled a fourth-round pick out of Oakland for former top-10 pick ...
Be it Wayne Campbell of Chicago Blackhawks fame,
or Lane Kiffin of the Oakland Raiders...mono will get
you.
Former first-round wide receiver Mike Williams, the 10th
overall choice in the 2005 draft but a disappointment
with two different franchises during less than three full seasons in the NFL, will get a third chance to prove himself.
