Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick running back Rashard Mendenhall
and second-round pick wide receiver Limas Sweed are expected
to come to terms with the team before the start of training camp, according to coach Mike Tomlin and director of football operations Kevin Colbert. Players are required report to camp Sunday afternoon at St. Vincent College.
A year ago at this time, Rashard and
Walter Mendenhall were living in Champaign, preparing for what
would become a memorable season for the Illinois football program. Now Rashard is preparing for his first NFL training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Walter is trying to jump-start his career at Illinois State.

The Pittsburgh Steelers released running back Najeh Davenport
Friday, according to a report on NFL Network. Davenport,
who played in 15 games - starting one - for the Steelers last season, became expendable when University of Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall was selected by the team in the first round of April's NFL draft.
