Oakland does have some momentum, coming off a shocker, winning in the last minute with 10 points and a 20-17 final. Oakland played at home against the Bengals, who had, at that time, a 7-2 record—direct opposites. The Dallas Cowboys had a game on Sunday, in which Tony Romo directed the Cowboys to a winning drive at the end of their game against the Redskins with less than three minutes remaining. The San Francisco 49ers 2009 season has been the tale of two quarterbacks. Through the first six games, Shaun Hill was the starter. Although Alex Smith nearly brought San Francisco back in the second half of Hill's most recent start, let's put the loss against the Texans on Hill's record. Therefore, the dink and dunk, "no-arm", game-manager quarterback led the 49ers to a 3-3 record. Was he Joe Montana? No, but he wasn't exactly Ken Dorsey out there either. But since the 49ers made the change to Alex Smith, the 49ers have subsequently gone 1-3. A rare win for the Jets

Finally, some good news for the Jets. The 49ers have dropped formal tampering charges against the Jets for their alleged involvement with WR Michael Crabtree, according to published reports tonight. The Jets haven't been officially notified by the league office, a source said. Crabtree staged a 71-day holdout before signing Oct. 7 with the 49ers. On Sept. 21, the Daily News reported that the 49ers suspected the Jets of foul play and had filed for tampering. At the time, the Jets denied the allegations.

In what is rapidly becoming a Monday morning ritual around these parts, San Francisco 49ers fans are spending the early hours of their day cursing out the offensive coordinator in between bites of their bran muffins and sips of their soy lattes. It's never the defense's fault. It's never the offensive line's fault. Quarterback Alex Smith is better than people on the East Coast, who can't be bothered to watch 49ers games, think he is. The head coach, Mike Singletary, is Vince Lombardi reincarnated (just ask him). Clearly the problem—literally the only person impeding the 49ers being a playoff team— is offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye. It couldn't be any more obvious, right? After all, he's the guy who calls the plays. He's the guy who had the team come out, again, in a conservative two back offense, with Smith under center for the entire first half, who watched his unit spit up all over itself while falling behind 23-3 to the Packers. Packers' Harris, Kampman to miss rest of season

Green Bay cornerback Al Harris and linebacker Aaron Kampman will both have season-ending knee surgery. Coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that losing the two veterans will be a major challenge to the Packers, who have a 6-4 record and are in the middle of the NFC wild card race after Sunday's victory over San Francisco. With a Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit just three days away, McCarthy says coaches still are considering their options at each position.
