The Oakland Raiders seem to finally almost be
done with their deal to bring former Pro Bowl
cornerback DeAngelo Hall to their team from the Atlanta Falcons . The Falcons and Hall had a falling out last season and trading him to Oakland for a second round draft pick seemed to be the best deal for both parties. Hall is expected to sign a deal with the Raiders that will cover seven years ...

Tommy James , a former star defensive back
for eight seasons during the golden years of the
Cleveland Browns, passed away on the night of Wednesday, February 7, 2007 . The 83 year-old suffered what doctors believe to be a heart attack at the nursing home where he was living in his hometown of Massillon , Ohio . He is one of only two players who played for the team’s namesake, ...
Chuck E Cheeses reports that Tommy Kelly’s birthday
party was recently marred by violence when 6 year
old son of Titan’s Cornerback “Pacman” Jones, "Frogger" Jones, reportedly broke into a ticket machine at a local Chuck E Cheeses and afterward armed with a backpack full of yellow prize tickets he threw his tiny arms up and “made it rain.”
The second part of the two-part post on
sports in The Wire. Gotta get ready for that
finale on Sunday.
The other day I outlined the moves that
have been made on the offensive side of the
ball. today the focus shifts to the defense. The Raiders have made a lot of noise on that side of the ball franchising Nnamdi Asomugha, re-singing Tommy Kelly to a mammoth contract, and adding Gibril Wilson and DeAngelo Hall. The only departures thus far are are Tyler Brayton and Warren Sapp. This has been an ...
The Oakland Raiders started the free agent signing
period with a bang landing safety Gibril Wilson away
from the world champion New York Giants. They also locked up their young defensive tackle Tommy Kelly with a long term deal and used the franchise tag to keep Nnamdi Asomugha. And from the addition by subtraction department, there is the departure of the underachieving chronic malcontent ...
Albert Haynesworth must have been salivating after hearing
the news of Tommy Kelly’s $50M contract, with 18M
guaranteed. When Albert learned that Bill Parcells gave his backup, Randy Starks, a 21M deal with 7M guaranteed, he probably became happier than a pig in slop.
The market price for prospective free agent defensive
linemen has been set. On Thursday, Al Davis and
the Oakland Raiders made Tommy Kelly (who?) the league’s highest paid defensive tackle by granting him a seven year deal worth up to $50 million, with about $18 million guaranteed. Re-signing Antwan Odom and/or Travis LaBoy just got a lot tougher.
The talk of the NFL right now is
the sheer magnitude of the $50 million contract that
Tommy Kelly inked with the Oakland Raiders yesterday. This contract has all the free agent defensive tackles licking their chops as they are going to be looking for comparable or better contracts. In fact, with the salary cap having risen dramatically teams are more than ever signing their own free agents, ...
The Raiders signed Tommy Kelly to the largest
contract even given to a defensive tackle.
According to the NFL Network, the Oakland Raiders
have signed safety Gibril Wilson to a six year
deal worth up to $39 million. Between this and the Tommy Kelly deal, the Raiders obviously are seeking to upgrade their defense. This deal may have the added effect, much to the delight of many in the Raider Nation, of ending the tenure of Stuart Schewigert.
This is a position that let the Raiders
down last season. The defensive line was a complete
sieve against the run. Derrick Burgess did not play up to his usual standard after being slowed by injuries. Warren Sapp has retired. Chris Clemons and Tyler Brayton are both moving on. Tommy Kelly has been locked up long term, and Terdell Sands is around. Jay Richardson came on strong and showed promise.
Al Davis's recent lucrative contract to defensive tackle
Tommy Kelly may just prove that he has joined
Darth on the dark side.
The Oakland Raiders have had a busy start
to the free agent signing period. They franchised Nnamdi
Asomugha and locked down Tommy Kelly and Justin Fargas. On the addition side of the ledger, the Raiders added Gibril Wilson, Kwame Harris, and Javon Walker. Jerry Porter, Tyler Brayton, and Josh McCown have already signed elsewhere, while Barry Sims is on the market. As of right now, the Raiders ...
My trusty sidekick and resident draftnik Raider X
has decided to weigh in on his thoughts on
the Raiders offseason moves including the signings of Gibril Wilson, Kwame Harris, and Javon walker. He also weighs in on the Tommy Kelly contract. Raider X also brings his wit and wisdom to discuss who the Oakland Raiders should take in the forthcoming draft.
“The Autumn Wind is a pirate, pillaging just
for fun…” The Oakland Raiders continued pillaging the NFL
by signing defensive tackle William Joseph from the New York Giants. Joseph was a first round pick of the G-Men back in 2003 and has played in 41 games, starting the entire 2006 season before going on injured reserve last year. Joseph should join Terdell Sands, Tommy Kelly, Gerrard Warren, ...
The offseason is a time for optimism. All
of the team records have been reset to 0-0
and the Oakland Raiders have been making bold moves to attempt to improve their team. L Dizzle takes the time to break down the moves the Raiders have made thus far in resigning Tommy Kelly, Cornell Green, Justin Fargas, franchising Nnamdi Asomugha, and acquiring Gibril Wilson (His favorite move), Kwame ...
The Oakland Raiders signed Tommy Kelly to a
seven year deal worth up to $50 million and
$18.125 million of that is guaranteed. The Raiders needed to lock him down to a long term deal, as he was young and on the rise, but this is a potentially dangerous move for the Raiders as Kelly is coming off of a season ending ACL injury last season. This move should give the franchised cornerback Nnamdi ...
Al Davis and the Raiders are being bigger
players in free agency this year than any time
since 2005. While they haven’t landed a coveted wide receiver yet, they were able to retain Justin Fargas, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Tommy Kelly. The Raiders added Gibril Wilson. The only player of real significance that the Raiders have lost was Chris Clemons and he was a role player. Josh McCown and Jerry ...
