Darcy Regier stated that they would bring in
some veterans to fill out the Portland roster, and
for a while it looked like they might want to get started on that. But, it looks like we have our first signing. According the Crunch Hockey Blog on Syracuse.com, the Sabres have signed Mathieu Darche.

So armed with more then 6 weeks of
vacation time, the Bills and freshly-released Sabres schedules, and
eternal Buffalo optimism, I’ve outlined 5 different Buffalo sports vacations over 5 different months. I’d love to go to to all 5, but reality says that probably won’t happened. But nothings preventing you from going to at least 1, no matter what your budget is.

With the flurry of NHL signings, both by
the Sabres and other teams, every Buffalo fan has
been holding their breath, waiting for the biggest elephant in the room to decide where he was going. If that metaphor made no sense, I mean we Sabres fans have been absolutely panicked over what was going to happen with Ryan Miller’s contract. We got him for 5 more years!
