The banged-up Detroit Red Wings have lost defenseman Niklas Kronwall for at least a month with a sprained ligament in his left knee. The team announced Sunday that Kronwall will be out four to eight weeks. Kronwall had a leg-on-leg, open-ice collision with Montreal enforcer Georges Laraque on Saturday.

After a well put together win in Detroit on Wednesday night, the Stars flew home to do battle with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Surprisingly, after the great play in Detroit, it appears after Thursday's performance a bad was left in the Motor City, the bag containing the Stars ability to play on home ice. In one of the more one-sided games this season, the Stars were downed by the Jackets 4-1. Even more impressive, the Stars have generally always been able to count the Jackets as a win since Columbus joined the league, yet no watchful eye could tell that from Thursday's performance. What's even more insulting is the fact three of the four Columbus goals came on the man advantage, and the other came short-handed. Can anyone else find an issue here? I've been seeing, as of late, a lot of talk and 'rumors' about how the Wings are interested in Marty Biron of the Isles. When I first heard the rumor, I was kind of intrigued, thinking that maybe if Biron was in Hockeytown, he might do some good. But there's a lot more to the scenario of 'Biron to Hockeytown' than meets the eye. At first glance, it seems like it might be a good thing for the Wings. Their goalie situation, until lately, has been inconsistent, to say the least. Ozzy has shown us flashes of the Oz of the past, from both ends of the spectrum. Howard, though lately has shown a bit of consistency, still doesn't have me convinced. So this is why I was really weighing the possibilities of acquiring Biron. But it just wouldn't be worth it. Zetterberg took a long pass from Brad Stuart, slipped past the defense and lifted a backhander over Roberto Luongo's left shoulder for his team-leading 17th point.
